Mathilde A. Uttech
Mathilde A. Uttech, age 88, of Stevens Point, died May 4, 2014 at the Portage County Health Care Center.
Mathilde was born May 15, 1925 to the late Adam and Mathilde (Brunner) Pfeuffer in Aschaffenburg, Germany. She grew up there and attended the local schools.
She married Erling Uttech on July 8, 1950 in Bad Neustadt, Germany. They relocated to Merrill, WI for a short time before settling in Stevens Point.
Mathilde began working for the Stevens Point Area School System in 1969. She worked in the school lunch program at Washington Elementary School before transferring to SPASH. After 24 years of service, Mathilde retired from P.J. Jacobs Jr. High School in 1993.
Mathilde will be remembered for her caring nature and her friendly fun-loving personality. Family was extremely important to her, and she relished spending time with them. She made it a priority to attend her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's athletic events, plays, and dances; in addition to staying connected to family abroad. Mathilde enjoyed being social and spending time with her kaffeeklatsch circle of friends and golfing with the "wet feet club". In her spare time, Mathilde enjoyed attending to her flower garden, crocheting, visiting Madeline Lake in northern Wisconsin; and she especially loved shopping.
Survivors include her children, Horst (Eileen Payne) Uttech of Plover & Susan (Bruce) Kedrowski of Plover; grandchildren, Heidi (Brian) Leahy of Stevens Point, Erik Uttech of Stevens Point, Ryan (Jen) Kedrowski of Apex, NC, & Karin Kedrowski of Stevens Point; and great grandchildren, Caitlyn, Braden, Keegan, Breanna, Lily, and Kate. She is also survived by many special nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Erling; 2 sisters; 3 brothers; and 1 grandson.
