Ben Serafin Jr. Obituary
Ben J. Serafin, Jr.

Ben J. Serafin, Jr., 69, of Stevens Point, died Monday, May 26, 2014, at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

He was born on May 12, 1945, in Stevens Point, to the late Ben, Sr. and Helen (Obremski) Serafin. On June 29, 1968, his marriage to Joy Brish took place at St. Peter Catholic Church.

Ben was a 1963 graduate of P.J. Jacobs High School and also attended Mid-State Technical College. He was employed as the records storage facility supervisor at Sentry Insurance, retiring in 2004 after 40 years of service to the company.

He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing trips to Minocqua with his father and brother, Frank, and spending time at his hunting property. He had been a diehard fan of John Wayne Western movies and NASCAR, especially a fan of drivers Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jr. and Tony Stewart. Ben always had to be busy, enjoyed snowmobiling, "Buckshot" Anderson books and had a passion for Ford Tractors.

Survivors include his wife, Joy of Stevens Point; son, Brian (fiancée Lisa Colbert) of Stevens Point; daughter, Wendy (Troy) Steinhorst of Plover; grandchildren, Ty, Elizabeth and Trent; step-grandchildren, Karlie and Kelsie; brother, Frank (Nancy) Serafin of Stevens Point; and sisters, Bernice (Ben) Levandowski and Adeline Serafin both of Stevens Point.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Stevens Point, with the Rev. Jerzy Rebacz officiating. Burial will follow in Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time for Mass.
