Bosben, Duane C.

Duane C. Bosben, 91, of Plover, entered eternal life with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, under the care of Ministry Hospice at St. Michael's Hospital, Stevens Point. He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene.

Funeral services for Duane will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 13, 2014 at the Shuda Funeral Home in Stevens Point.

Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the time of services Friday at the funeral home. The Plover American Legion, of which Duane is a member, will assist with military rites.

Burial will be in the Plover Cemetery.

Duane was born February 10, 1923, in Stoughton, WI, the son of Carl and Lena (Hubred) Bosben.

Duane served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater of Operations, with the First Infantry Division from 1943-1945 in WWII. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. He earned the Purple Heart, Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal, and Marksmanship Medal. Upon returning from the war, he married Arlene D. Disch on March 29, 1946, at Zwingli United Church of Christ, Monticello, WI. They settled in Albion, WI for a few years before buying a farm in the Juda area. The couple operated the farm 23 years before moving to Janesville, WI.

Duane was employed at General Motors, Janesville, for 30 years. Upon his retirement in 1985, the couple moved in 1986 to Plover to be closer to their daughter, Madeline, and her family.

Duane was an active member of UAW, the American Legion Post 543, VFW Post 10262, and the Springs United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed bowling, gardening, and bird watching. He loved fishing and hunting with his grandsons and family.

Survivors include his daughter, Madeline (Ted) Osenga and two grandsons, Matt Osenga, Stevens Point and Mike Osenga (special friend, Cory Ourada), both of Plover.

Besides his wife, Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Lena Bosben, and four brothers, Leonard, Lloyd, Robert (Lexine), and Oscar (Hilda) Bosben all of Edgerton.

In lieu of flowers, a Memorial to be established at a later date.

The family wishes to thank the Ministry Hospice Services and second floor staff at St. Michaels Hospital for the wonderful care given to Duane.

In addition, the family wishes to extend the deepest thanks and gratitude to the Staff at The Lodge at Whispering Pines, Plover. The loving care given to Duane over the past three years will never be forgotten!
