John Joseph Simon of Amherst, WI, formerly of Olympia, WA, passed away quietly in his sleep on July 15, 2014 after health complications from COPD and emphysema. He was born on October 27, 1957 in Waukegan, IL; son of Clarence and Constance (Roders) Simon.
John had a rich, fun loving life raising his two boys of which he was so proud. The true twinkles in his eyes were his six grandchildren; loving them with all his strength. John's work ethic was unsurpassed as a master carpenter. He was an avid reader, was a whiz kid solving crosswords and had the fortitude to watch sports 24 hours a day. The fish are finally safe! John was always willing to help anyone needing it. He made us all laugh by sharing his special brand of humor and Simon gift for gab with everyone he met turning a 5 minute conversation into an hour of pure delight. Only one mystery will always remain; What did John keep under the caps he wore on his head all the time? The family would appreciate your guesses!
John traveled from Olympia, Washington to Amherst, WI in December 2013 to live near his mother and sister while he was ill. No amount of words can express the great father, son, brother, friend and person he had become. If you knew John, you were truly blessed, and if not, please know him by thinking of that special person in your own life who makes you laugh, shakes your world (& head) and gives you peace.
John is survived by his two sons and their mom Stephanie Wright: Charlie (Jessica) Simon of Olympia, WA and their son, Cruz Simon and Anthony (Arlene) Simon of Yelm, WA and their children, Anthony Simon, Charlie Simon, Hanford McCloud, Isabella McCloud, & Talia McCloud; his mother: Connie Simon of Amherst, WI; two sisters: Jean (Larry) Evans of Woodburn, OR and Terri (Gary) Holmes of Amherst, WI. Also survived by many more nieces, nephews, family and friends from coast to coast. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Simon, and two twin sisters, Claudia Berg and Claudette Nixon.
No services are planned at this time. The family wishes to thank all of the "Angels" in John's life: Community Care of Central Wisconsin, Ministry Health, Amelia Aldrich, DNP and Dr. Polomis, his rehab exercise buddies & coaches, all of his "Moms" at the TR Villa in Amherst, WI , Seamar and the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home of Amherst in assisting our family with arrangements.
