Marian A. Sturm
Marian A. Sturm, age 98, a Stevens Point resident passed away peacefully on July 19, 2014 at the Stevens Point Care Center following a stroke. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stevens Point. Burial will be at St. Stephens Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00 am until the time of service at the church. Boston Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Marian was born Marian Alice Erickson on March 17, 1916 in the Town of Eau Pleine, the daughter of the late Eric and Hilma (Johnson) Erickson. She grew up on the family farm near Junction City and attended local schools, including White Lilly School.
She moved to Stevens Point as a young woman and worked at the Whiting Hotel. On March 4, 1939 she married Roderic Sturm in Stevens Point. They were married 48 years until his death on June 11, 1987.
Marian was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Stevens Point and was active in church functions and outings. She enjoyed gardening and was particularly skilled at raising flowers. She also liked to sew, crochet and craft. Marian was a member of the Junction City Ladies Aide Club. She looked forward to annual family reunion picnics with family from Minnesota and the Junction City area. She and her husband enjoyed spending many years during the summer with family and friends at their cottage on Lake Emily.
Survivors include her sons, Ronald (Judy) Sturm of Junction City and Richard (Carol) Sturm of Stevens Point; granddaughters, Tami (Duane) Duda of Stevens Point, Teri (Lonnie Skibba) Harcrow of Junction City, Trudi Sturm of Wisconsin Rapids, and Tracy (Rob Graziano) Peters of Muskego. She is also survived by two grandsons, Erik Sturm of La Crosse and Ryan (Kam) Sturm of Holmen, WI. She has ten great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by her sister, Evelyn Schindler of Stevens Point.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roderic Sturm; brother, Earl Erickson; and sisters, Eloise Borkenhagen and Helen Steuck.
The family would like to express special appreciation to the staff at Ministry Home Care Hospice; Jennifer Lowery and the staff at Point Manor for their professional dedication to Marian.
