Duda, Theresa L.

Theresa L. Duda age 88, of Arborwood Lodge, Wisconsin Rapids, formerly of Rudolph, died Saturday September 29, 2012 at Arborwood Lodge, comforted with her family at her side.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 11:00 AM. at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Rudolph with Rev. Rolando Onden officiating. Burial will take place at All Souls Cemetery in Rudolph. Visitation will be held at St. Philip Church on Tuesday from 9:30 to 11:00 AM. Ritchay Funeral Home of Wisconsin Rapids is assisting the family.

Theresa was born February 4, 1924 in Stevens Point to Felix and Cecelia (Kitowski) Polum. She attended John Francis Sims Grade School and P. J. Jacobs High School in Stevens Point. She graduated in 1942 with the first graduating class from the new school. After graduating, Theresa was employed at Montgomery Wards Catalog Dept. in Chicago. Theresa married Edward Duda at St. Bartholomew in Mill Creek on October 12, 1946. He died November 26, 2009. When she married, she became a homemaker and bookkeeper for the family business, Duda Oil Company.

After Ed and Theresa retired, they moved to the village of Rudolph where she worked part time at the Dairy State Cheese factory. She loved working in her garden and tending to her flowers. Theresa loved playing cribbage, cards, bingo and visiting with her good neighbors. She loved being with her new friends that she met at Arborwood Lodge, where she lived for three years. Everyone enjoyed her good nature and wittiness. When her grandchildren and great grandchildren came to visit, she had a special sparkle in her eyes.

She is survived by two children, James (Dallas) Duda of Iron River, MI, and Lynette (Denis) Hartjes of Rudolph; three grandchildren, Mindy (Dr. Michael) Schuh of Green Bay, Chad Duda of Minneapolis,MN, Penny (deceased Justin) Junemann of Rudolph; and seven great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother Norbert Polum of Plover and sister Lorraine Tork of Stevens Point.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; brother, Morris Polum, sister, LaVerne Purrell; granddaughter, Michelle Duda; and grandson-in-law, Justin Junemann.

A special thank you to the legion of angels who work at Arborwood Lodge and Ministry Home Care for providing our mother with the gentlest of care, kindness and compassion. Also, granddaughter Penny Junemann who had the special touch that Grandma needed and wanted.
