Raymond P. Kitowski age 90, of Stevens Point passed away Wednesday November 7, 2012.
A mass of Christian Burial for Raymond will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday November 10, 2012 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Rev. Thomas Lindner will officiate. Burial will be in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Friends and relatives will gather to share memories from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Friday and from 9:00 - 9:45 AM Saturday at the Shuda Funeral Chapel - Stevens Point. The Loyal Order of Moose ritual will be at 6:00, The Post #6 ritual at 6:30, and the Knights of Columbus and General Rosary with the Holy Name Society will be prayed at 7:00, all on Friday night at the funeral chapel.
Raymond was born February 13, 1922 in the Town of Carson, the son of Paul and Regina (Lesavage) Kitowski. He graduated from P.J.Jacobs High School in 1940. Raymond entered Army Air Force on January 5, 1943 at Ft. Sheridan, IL. He served as a corporal in India-Burma, and in the China Defense. He earned the Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, 3 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, 3 Overseas Service Bars. After his honorable discharge on January 8, 1946 Raymond returned to the area. He married Margaret Joosten in September of 1946 in Rudolph, the couple settled in Junction City until 1950, when they moved to Stevens Point. Raymond was a captain for the Portage County Sheriffs Department for 21 years. Margaret passed away in 1975. He retired in 1984 from the EB Sommers Corp. after working there for 10 years. Raymond married Judith (Zywicki-Stancyk) on June 4, 1977 in Stevens Point. The couple enjoyed going up north fishing for 23 years and he also enjoyed playing cribbage, carpentry, but most of all loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Raymond is survived by his wife Judith; his four children: Carol (Edward) Haas, Stevens Point; Linda (Ronald) Parks, Wausau; Gary (Diana) Kitowski, Bend, OR; Myra (Conrad) Wroblewski, Stevens Point. 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. 2 sisters: Dorothy Demming, Orlando, FL and Ruth (Louis) Heitzinger, Racine. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Margaret, and one brother Leonard.
