David "Dave" J. Sowka

David "Dave" James Sowka

Age 28 of Stevens Point, died Wed. November 21, 2012 at the home of his parents where he currently resided. David was born April 5, 1984 in Stevens Point, to James Michael & Donna (Borgen) Sowka. Dave graduated from SPASH in 2002 and held two Associate Degrees from Mid-State Technical College in Stevens Point. The first degree, Network Specialist, enabled him to work for Sentry Insurance for several years, alongside brother Dan. His most recent degree, Computer Programming, was completed in May of 2012. He was currently looking for work in his new field.

Dave was a quiet and gentle man that loved his pets, family, girlfriend and friends. He was always there to help those in need and loved caring for his beloved pets. He enjoyed technology, the outdoors and was an avid reader. He loved his new baby nephew and enjoyed spending time with him and also spending weekends hanging with his buddies.

Dave is survived by his parents, Jim & Donna (Borgen) Sowka , sister Lauren (Patrick) Dailey, brother Daniel Sowka & nephew 3 months of age Joseph "Joe" James Dailey all of Stevens Point. David's maternal grandparents are Keith & Edna Borgen of Amherst and paternal grandfather is Dr. Albin Sowka of Stevens Point. He is also survived by his special girlfriend Stacey Oliphant of Portage and many cousins, aunts and uncles in the area. Dave will be missed but will live in our hearts forever. Memorials may be made in David's name to the Portage County Humane Society or Peace Lutheran Church in Amherst.

Funeral Services will be Saturday Dec. 1, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Peace Lutheran Church in Amherst with visitation starting at 1:00 pm Saturday. There will also be a Visitation on Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Peace Lutheran Church in Amherst.
