Eugenia C. Ward, age 88, of Amherst, WI, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2012 at Waupaca Elder Care Home in Waupaca, WI. She was born June 2, 1924 in Custer, WI; daughter of Vincent and Johanna (Lepinski) Lepak. On November 4, 1944, Eugenia married Perry W. Ward at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Custer, WI. They were married for almost 68 years before Perry's passing on October 22, 2012. Eugenia and Perry farmed together for over 50 years in the Amherst area, and she made their house a home. She was an exceptional baker in her home and made everything from scratch. Eugenia was twice a Pillsbury Bake-Off finalist. Through the years, Eugenia and Perry enjoyed polka and square dancing. She was a member for many years of the Amherst Women's Club and enjoyed being part of a ladies poker card club. Eugenia will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends. Eugenia is survived by: a daughter: Sandy (Ray) Boileau of Weyauwega, WI; two sons: Robert (Bernadette) Ward of Ulysses, KS and Thomas (Paula) Ward of Reedsville, WI; a son-in-law: Fred (Judie) Urfer of The Villages, FL; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother: Melvin (Katie) Lepak of Amherst, WI; a sister: Daisy Konkol of Amherst, WI; and a sister-in-law: Charlotte Lepak of Amherst, WI. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Eugenia was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Johanna Lepak; a daughter, Patricia Urfer; five sisters; and three brothers. A Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church - Fancher. Father Robert Pedretti will preside. A visitation will be held on Friday evening, Dec. 28, from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM. A visitation also will be on Saturday from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Alzheimer's Research and to Waupaca Elder Care Home. The Jungers-Holly Funeral Home of Amherst is assisting the family with arrangements.
A special thank-you to the staff at Waupaca Elder Care Home for all of their help and support given to our family over the last few months. The special care Eugenia received will never be forgotten.
