Carlene Greta Lee (Swenson)

Carlene Greta Lee (Swenson), age 80, passed away with family by her side on December 27, 2012 in Stevens Point, WI, due to complications associated with Alzheimer's disease.

Carlene was born January 8, 1932 to Carl and Gertrude Swenson in Iola, WI. She graduated from Deaconess Hospital with her nursing diploma and in 1953 married Robert E. Lee. Together they raised their 5 children in Stevens Point. She was employed in her earlier years at St. Michael's Hospital followed by a long nursing career at Rice Clinic & St. Michael's Hospital as a surgical nurse.

Carlene was actively involved with the Catholic Church of St. Stephens as well as various other community activities. Carlene enjoyed traveling, golfing and spending time with her family, and friends. She also had a fond love of nature, especially birds. Her love for music was a comfort to her throughout her illness and the language she used to reach out to us.

Carlene was a compassionate caregiver for several of her ailing friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Lee, son Robert E. Lee, Jr., sister Marie Lindholm, and brother Merlin Swenson. She is survived by her children Chris Lee, Wyocena, WI, Carol Green, Burnet, TX , Thomas Lee, Indianapolis, IN, and Lieutenant Colonel (P) David Lee (wife Kelly), Fairfax, VA, 10 grandchildren (Cori, Brandon, Andrew, Megan, Phillip, Adam, Aaron, Austin, Kaitlyn and Lauren), one great granddaughter, Taylor; She is also survived by her sister, Janice Clapp, sister-in-law Lucille Swenson, and many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burilal at Saint. Stephens Catholic Church in Stevens Point, 1401 Clark Street on Thursday, January 3rd at 11:30. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the service, from 9:30-11:15. Burial will take place after the service at Saint. Stephens Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Oakridge Memory Care Unit, Ministry Health Care Hospice, and all of those special individuals that have taken such great and compassionate care of Carlene.
