Grace L. Hoerter
Of Stevens Point died early Tuesday morning January 22, 2013 at the Portage County Health Care Center with her loving family at her side.
Age 100 Grace was born September 29, 1912 in the Town of Stockton. She was the daughter of the late Peter and Josephine (Derezinski) Zagrzebski.
Her marriage to George Hoerter took place on May 20, 1935 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. After their marriage the couple settled in the Stevens Point area. Her husband George died July 9, 1972.
Grace was a homemaker until her husband George died, when she then went to work as a CNA for the Portage County Health Care Center for a number of years
. She was a member of the St. Anne's Society of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, a past member of the St. Stephen's Choir and Prayer Gathering group. She was a RSVP volunteer for Stevens Point Care Center and the Portage County Health Care Center. An Associate of the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mothers, and a member of the St. Bronislava PCCW.
Grace enjoyed gardening and cooking, and her chicken soup was always ready for family visiting her. She had a strong religious faith and belief, and her family was most important to her. Spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren were special to her.
In Lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Bronislava Church in her name would be appreciated.
Survivors include one daughter; Evie (Joe) Pieczynski of Plover, and four sons; Fred (Joan) Hoerter of Plover, Tom (Neva) Hoerter of Stevens Point, Bob (Katherine) Hoerter of Urbandale, IA, and Rhody (Judy ) Hoerter of Milwaukee.
Twenty one grandchildren, forty eight great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren. Further survived by two sisters; Marion Pasternacki and Emeline Martinez both of Flagstaff, AZ and one brother Art Zagrzebski of Stevens Point.
She was preceded in death by her husband George and three sisters and three brothers.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, January 26, 2013 at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover. Rev. Greg Bohren officiating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph's Parish Cemetery in Stevens Point. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. Saturday morning at St. Bronislava Church until the time for mass.
