Leonard M. Karch

Leonard M. Karch age 92 of Rosholt, passed away at his home on February 12, 2013.

A visitation will be held from noon to 3:00 PM on Sunday February 17, 2013 at the Shuda Funeral Chapel. Burial with full military honors will be held 1:00 PM Monday at Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel in King.

Leonard was born September 9, 1920 in Arnott, the son of Joseph and Mary (Smaglik) Karch. He attended Arnott schools and began working for his father at JJ Karch Dry Goods Store and later at the Arnott Creamery. He married Mildred Gibbs on May 8, 1943 in Plover, they later divorced. Leonard entered the United States Army on June 26, 1944 and served his country in Italy during WWII. He was honorably discharged on June 20, 1946 and returned to the area. He began his career at Preway where Leonard worked as a line supervisor until his retirement in 1983. He married Mary Newby on March 3, 1978 in Stevens Point. They later moved to Apache Junction, Arizona, where they resided until her death in 2012. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, playing cards and dice, feeding the birds, watching deer and going to the family cabin on Lake Tomahawk in Barnes. Most of all Leonard loved spending time with his family and sharing stories.

He is survived by five children: Kay (Fred) Molski, WI Rapids; Barb (Fred) Sankey, Plover; Lorraine (Harry) Glisczinski, Amherst Jct; Robert (Cheri) Karch, Rosholt; Debra (Jeff) Werachowski, Custer. Four step-children: Sherry (Ron) Peters, Mosinee; Jim (Patti) Newby, Plover; Cindy (Steve) Carr, Amherst Jct; Paula (Jason) Wanta, Arnott. His sister Angeline Roszak. 28 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Ann, 2 step grandchildren, 1 sister and 5 brothers.
