Donald G. Higgins

Donald G. Higgins, age 79, of Stevens Point, WI died March 11, 2013 at St Joseph Hospital while surrounded by his family.

Donald was born October 28, 1933 to the late Walter & Aurelia (Dimka) Higgins in Stevens Point, WI. He grew up in Junction City, attended the local grade school, and graduated from PJ Jacobs High School.

At a young age, Donald work as a line man and switchboard operator for the local telephone company. He later became employed with the Portage County Hwy Department as a general patrolman. Donald worked for the Hwy Department for over 36 years, retiring in March of 1990.

He married Josephine Polcin on September 10, 1955 in Stevens Point.

Donald will be remembered for his sense of humor and joking nature. He was truly a giver who loved his family and relished spending time with his grandchildren. Donald had a passion for sports, especially softball. In his earlier years, he coached several softball teams. Donald also enjoyed golfing, bowling, coon hunting, and snowmobiling. In his spare time he enjoyed playing Sheep's Head, wood working, and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Josephine; son, Bruce Higgins and his children, Nicki, Jason, & Kristi; daughter, Barbara (Mike) Skibinski and their children, Kelly, Kassie, Katie, & Kyle; Tom Higgins and his children, Amanda, Ashley, Tonya, Brittni; daughter, Lenore "Bunny" (Pete) Albert and their children, Stacy & Josh; son, Terry (Melissa) Higgins and their children, Eric, Eric, & Jeff; daughter, Judy (Terrence) Dziak and their children, Anthony, Andrea, & Albert; daughter, Carol Abraham and her sons Damian & Jaxx; son, Kenneth (Kelly) Higgins and their children, Amber & Aryn; daughter, Lynda (John) Totzke and their children, Mandi & Cole; son, Willy (Shelly) Higgins and their children, Jazmyn, Alyssa, Derrick, & Evan; and 26 great grandchildren.

A Funeral Service, Commemorating his Life, will be held 11:00 am Friday, March 15, 2013 at Boston Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Timothy Roser officiating. A time of visitation will also be held on Friday from 9:00 am until time of service at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Restlawn Memorial Park, Grand Rapids.

He will be dearly missed by family & friends. Donald was truly a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
