Bublitz, Russell

Russell R Bublitz, age 62, of Stevens Point passed away at home peacefully, surrounded by his family on Sunday, July 14th. He was born September 22, 1950 in Fort Atkinson, WI, the son of Rolland and Helen Bublitz. He graduated from Fort Atkinson High School in 1968, attended the University of Wisconsin, and graduated from Madison Technical College. Russ married Barbara Engebretson on July 3rd, 1971 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Russ was a jack-of-all trades and tinkering in his garage was one of his favorite things. He also enjoyed religion, playing guitar, cards, fishing, hunting, and politics. He was an all around fun person to be with and his greatest pleasure in life was his family. For many years Russ was the man on the little red scooter accompanied by his dogs King and Skip at Pfiffner Park.

Russell is survived by his wife Barbara, and their three children: Russell II, Ryan, and Rachel (Bernie) Pretat. Two grandchildren: Autumn and Nicole Pretat. One brother William (Carol) Bublitz, his mother-in-law, Phyllis Engebretson, brother-in-law Larry(Terry) Engebretson , sisters-in-law, Susan Stommel, Jeannie (Tim) Oksuita, Merry (Rod) Seavers; Joan (Steve) Dobek, Betty (Todd) Moskonsas, and Karen Engebretson, an Aunt, Uncle, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law Melvin Engebretson and brother-in-law James E. Engebretson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Pfiffner Building on Friday, July 19th. The Celebration of Life will begin at 3:00 pm with a Christian Service at 4:00pm and social gathering until 9:00pm.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Aspirus Physicians, staff and Hospice care that guided him through his illness.
