Arthur M. Fish

Arthur M. Fish, age 90, of Stevens Point, died September 10, 2013 at St Michaels Hospital, Stevens Point.

He was the beloved husband of Virginia Fish and beloved father to Margery (John) Langeland of Rhinelander, WI, and Julia Fish of St. Paul, MN. He is also survived by a niece, Joyce Loye of MI.

Arthur was born on September 22, 1922 to Augustus & Weltha (Ward) Fish in Waldron, MI. He grew up there and attended the local schools.

Following high school, Arthur served in the Army Airforce. Throughout his time of service, he was stationed in Europe during WWII. He met Virginia Thomas on a train to Copehagen and they were later married on September 2, 1947. Arthur was honorably discharged with rank as private.

Arthur attended Western Michigan University and obtained his bachelors degree. He continued his education and received his masters in Library Science at the University of Michigan.

He begun working on his PhD in History at the University of Michigan. Arthur accepted a job as documents librarian at Central Michigan University. In 1967 Arthur moved to Stevens Point, WI to work as a documents librarian at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. He retired in 1985.

Arthur will be remembered for his determined yet caring nature. He enjoyed helping others and his sense of humor will be remembered by all who knew him.In his spare time, he enjoyed reading and traveling. After retirement, Arthur especially enjoyed spending time at his cottage in Wildcat Lake, Boulder Junction, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenneth; and sister, Rita.
