Lewinski, Joseph A.

Joseph A. Lewinski age 87, of Stevens Point passed away Tuesday March 18, 2014 at the Stevens Point Care Center.

A Celebration of Life service for Joseph will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday March 25, 2014 at the Shuda Funeral Chapel - Stevens Point. Dwaine Habrat will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be held after services at the funeral home at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Joseph was born September 4, 1926 in Milwaukee, the son of Joseph and Rose (Gavin) Lewinski. After graduation from high school and a manufacturing job, Joe entered the United States Army. He served his country as a PVT-1 from January 17, 1951 until his honorable discharge from Fort Custer, MI on December 22, 1952. He moved to Chicago where he served as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for 20 years. Upon his retirement Joe moved to Custer and in 1991 he moved to Stevens Point. He was an avid reader of books and he was proud of his large garden.

Joe is survived by his sister Dolores Stackurski, Plover. His close friend Patricia and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Richard and Ervin.
