Landowski, Alexander T.

Alexander T. Landowski, 96, of Stevens Point, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at North Crest Assisted Living Facility where he made his home for the past 7 years.

Alex was born on Feb. 23, 1918, to John and Pearl (Mazur) Landowski in Stevens Point. He attended local schools. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic in World War II from 1942 to 1945, earning the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and other awards.

Alex worked as a policeman for the Stevens Point Police Department from 1947 to 1978. He then worked as a bailiff at the Portage County Courthouse for another 20 years.

He married Clara Krupka on Oct. 19, 1957, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Mill Creek. The couple settled in Stevens Point and had two daughters. Alex enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and gardening. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered as a kind, thoughtful and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Survivors include daughter, Bernadette (Gerald) Adams of Norwalk, WI; grandchildren, Rose, Lily, Holly, Laurel and Wesley Adams; and son-in-law, Ken Pepowski of Stevens Point.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife; daughter, Dolores Landowski-Pepowski; sisters, Marie, Annie and Alice; and brothers, John, Stanley and Anthony.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2014, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Stevens Point with the Rev. Arul Joseph V. officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services in the St. Faustina Room at St. Peter Church, with the rosary being prayed at 9:30 a.m.
