COL Robert R. Sheahan USMC (RET.)

Sheahan, COL Robert R., USMC (RET.) Fortified with the sacraments of Holy Mother Church, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 19, 2013. Beloved husband of Anne Lilly Sheahan, dear father of Marianne Sheahan, Daniel (Bridget) Sheahan, David Sheahan, and Robert F. (Linda) Sheahan, dear grandfather of Keara (Jacob) Mooberry, and Alessandra, Samuel, Molly, and Tyler Sheahan. Also survived by two brothers, John P. (Estelle) Sheahan and Michael F. (Janet) Sheahan, a sister, Jane Sheahan O'Neill, and the late Molly Sheahan (Van) Spear, and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was a graduate of the United States Naval Academy Class of 1953. He served 27 years in the United States Marine Corps and was highly decorated as a combat fighter pilot during the Vietnam War. He retired as a full colonel in 1980 and moved to St. Louis, where he worked for Emerson Electric Co. Later he accepted a position as President and CEO of the Children's Home Society of Missouri, where he served for 9 years. He was active in the Navy League of the United States, serving as president of the St. Louis, state, and regional councils. Services: Visitation will be on Monday, March 25th, at 9 am, at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, 1510 Bopp Rd, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 am. Interment will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia. Memorials may be sent to the Children's Home Society of Missouri, 9445 Litzsinger Rd St Louis, MO 63144, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN, or a charity of choice.
