Jane Elizabeth "Betty" Ellis

Ellis, Jane Elizabeth Betty aged 84, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away on February 8, 2013. Betty was a thoughtful, generous, and beautiful lady who devoted her life and considerable talents to caring for family and friends. After marrying her high school sweetheart, Bob, in Maplewood, Missouri in 1950, she moved with him to North Little Rock, Dallas, Roanoke, and Knoxville, enjoying a career as an administrative assistant along the way. Betty was a devoted and beloved friend to many, an enthusiastic supporter of the arts, and an ardent fan of the Lady Vols. She loved to travel and enjoyed exploring the United States, Canada, Europe, and the Caribbean with family and friends. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Farragut and combined her love of God with her love of music by singing in the choir there for many years. Betty is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bob J. Ellis; two daughters, Peggy Ellis and Dawn Ellis; two grandsons, Drake Clark and Ellis Clark; three great grandchildren; Calvin, Evan, and Silvana Clark; a sister, Jacquelyn Higgins; nieces Jane Higgins Levi, Linda Snead, and Carol Guehring; nephews Daniel Higgins and Timothy Higgins; and many other loving family members and friends. Betty was born in East St. Louis, Illinois on October 22, 1928, and was preceded in death by two sons, Michael and James; her parents, Clarence and Wilma Ernst; and her brother, John. Betty never met a stranger and will always be remembered for her sweet smile and loving heart. Services: The family will receive friends on February 11 from 5:009:00 p.m. at JAY B. SMITH Funeral Home in Maplewood, Missouri, with burial the next morning at St. Paul's Churchyard in St. Louis.
