Louise Griffin

Griffin, Louise (1914-2013), fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, Louise Winifred Griffin passed away on September 18, 2013 at the age of 99. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters Catherine, Mary, Nora, Elizabeth, Anna and Helen. Along with Louise, these sisters were affectionately known as the Griffins. For generations of family, no trip to St. Louis was complete without a visit to the house shared by these sisters for over 40 years. Louise was born in Carlinville, IL, January 28, 1914. Eventually all 7 sisters settled in St. Louis, MO. Having received a master's degree from Washington University, Louise spent her career teaching Clay School in the St. Louis. Throughout her lifetime Louise was an avid golfer, bowler, swimmer, and table games player; tremendously enjoyed all visits with her large extended family and friends. In addition to her sisters, Louise was preceded in death by her nephew, John C. Thomure and his wife Diana, as well her nephew-in-law, Gerry Boston. She is survived by her nephew, Terrence M. Thomure and his wife Margie; her niece, Patricia A. Gallo (nee Thomure) and her husband Mark; her niece Margaret Tirella (nee Ackerman) and her husband Russ and her niece Mary Elizabeth Boston Ross (nee Ackerman) and her second husband Larry. A second generation of grand-nieces, grand-nephews and their many children also survive. Services: Visitation will be held at the KUTIS AFFTON Chapel, 10151 Gravois, Sunday, Sept. 22, 3-8 p.m. A Mass of Resurrection will be held at Holy Redeemer Church, 17 Joy Ave., Webster Groves, MO 63119, Monday, Sept. 23, 10 a.m. Louise will be interred at Resurrection Cemetery directly following the Funeral Mass.
