Ralph "Midge, Poppers, Grandpa" Lia

Lia, Ralph, Midge, Poppers, Grandpa passed peacefully March 13, 2014, at age 94. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Maurine or Mar as he so lovingly called her. Dear father and father-in-law of Nina (John) Lia Reilly, Ralph (Kathie) Lia, Paul Lia and Michael (Arlene) Lia; dear grandfather of Tamura Evans, Jennifer Lucas, Shannon Onay, Lia and Brenna Reilly, David Kassabaum, Amanda and Daniel Lia; our dear greatgrandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend. He was preceded in death by his siblings Peter Lia and Rose LaGratta. Born in Union City, NJ on July 4, 1919, he was the son of Italian immigrants who came to America to pursue the American dream. Ralph served his country in World War II. He was a successful business and real estate owner and provided a wonderful home life for his family. Ralph was always willing to help those in need or give advice from his pool of infinite wisdom. He will be fondly remembered for his quick wit and the ability to make everyone laugh. Services: Funeral from the ORTMANN STIPANOVICH Funeral Home, 12444 Olive Blvd., Creve Coeur, Mon., March 17, 10:30 a.m. to St. Monica Church for 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Visitation 2-6 p.m., Sunday.
