Richard W. Horner

Horner, Richard W. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 19, 2014. Born February 1, 1915 to Wesley Winans Horner and Elinor Hall Horner. Beloved husband of 72 years to the late Evelyn Bissell Horner (deceased). Dear father of Daniel B. Horner (Susan), Wesley W. Horner (Susan), and Deborah H. Dieffenbach (Jeffrey). Survived by brother David A. Horner (Winfred B. Horner, deceased), 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceeded in death by his son, Douglass D. Horner (Karen) and brothers, Frederic H. Horner and John L. Horner. Richard graduated from Rossman School, John Burroughs School ('32) and Washington University ('36), and attended Oxford College as a Rhodes Scholar. He retired as president of Mississippi River Transmission Corp. He was active in the community, serving on the Ladue City Council, board of St. Luke's Hospital, member of Ladue Chapel, Sigma Chi fraternity, Bellerive Country Club, and many others. He loved the outdoors and his family's place on the Meramec River at Steelville. Services: Memorial Service will be at Ladue Chapel on Friday, March 28th, at 4:00 p.m. Private burial will be at the Bissell plot at Bellefontaine Cemetery.
