Harris, Rod 1918-2012. Born in 1918 in Cleveland, Ohio, died peacefully at home on December 22, 2012 due to complications from an aortic abdominal aneurysm. After graduating from Amherst College, cum laude, with a degree in economics, Rod Harris served the Navy for four years as an Administrative Officer in Washington, DC and Honolulu, Hawaii. He returned to Yale Law School, served as Managing Editor of the Yale Law Journal and graduated in 1947. After practicing law in Boston as a partner with Herrick, Smith he and the family moved to St. Louis in 1959 where he joined Monsanto's legal department. He retired in 1984 from his position as Deputy General Counsel and Assistant Corporate Secretary. During his career at Monsanto, he was active in the American Society of Corporate Secretaries, including serving a term as its Chair. Rod Harris will be remembered for his integrity, curiosity, passion for current affairs, and kindness. He was active in various civic and investment groups, including board service with the
of St. Louis and Confluence St. Louis. He also spent many happy hours at Old Warson Country Club, always hoping for small improvements in his golf game. He lost his wife of 50 years, Jean Fowler Harris, in 1996. He is survived by his daughter Judy Rawson (Bob) of Shaker Heights Ohio; his son Scott Harris (Michelle) of Clayton; his sister Janet Bodwell of Benicia CA and by four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
