Smith, Victor Porter Victor was engaging, complex, and interested in many things. In short, throughout his life, he followed his bliss. In WWII
, Victor served in Europe in the army air force and thus began his passion for travel and for developing a large circle of friends all over the world that, to name but a few, included Alice B. Toklas, Gertrude Stein, and Gilbert Murray. For thirty years, he was a teacher and art director in the University City School District. With his love of the arts, Victor engaged and motivated many students and others to appreciate the beautiful. After retirement, he served on many boards, including Tower Grove House, and was a benefactor to the St. Louis Art Museum. On October 23, 1921, Victor was born in Pittsburgh, Kansas. Surrounded by the care and love of family, friends, and superb medical staffs, Victor died peacefully on December 3, 2012. He will be missed. Services: A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2012, at 4:00 pm. The memorial service will be at Trinity Episcopal Church (600 North Euclid, St. Louis, MO). If desired, contributions should be sent in his memory to his beloved St. Louis Art Museum.
