William G. Bruns

Bruns, William G. On August 20, 2013. Survived by his beloved wife of 55 years Jeanne Gantner Bruns; their three sons William J., Thomas (Sherry) and David (Kim); his sister Mary (Walt) Schmierbach; brother John Bruns and sister-in-law Joan Gantner Jones; grandchildren Patrick and Olivia Bruns; great-granddaughter Nina Cosentino; nieces Victoria (David) Clark, Kim Bruns and Nicole (Joel) Solomon and nephew Anthony (Lisa) Giolivo. Bill was preceded in death by his parents William H. and Alice Bruns and granddaughter Amanda Meshell. Bill graduated St. Charles High School ('48) and honorably served in the United States Army obtaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant ('56). He received both his Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering ('53) and Juris Doctorate ('58) from Washington University. Bill practiced intellectual property law for fifty years at Gravely, Lieder and Woodruff that became Polster, Lieder, Woodruff and Lucchesi, L.C. in 1991. He assisted countless clients in obtaining, managing and protecting their patents including, most fondly, an air filled seat cushion, a drywall tape and the Brock-a-Brella. Bill was a long-time resident of Pasadena Hills and member of the Board of Trustees and Mayor from 1975 to 1985. He was president of the Normandy Municipal Council from 1977 to 1978 and the recipient of the Normandy Municipal Council Neighborhood Preservation Award 1978 to 1980. Bill enjoyed playing golf and tennis at Norwood Hills Country Club, was an avid reader, a patient fisherman, a careful listener, a good cook and an exceptionally kind friend. Services: A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Ann of Normandy Catholic Church, 7530 Natural Bridge Rd., St. Louis, MO 63121 on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Immediately following the Mass, interment at St. Ann's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to St. Ann's Parish, Door County Land Trust or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
