Horner, Dr. Winifred Win Bryan died in Columbia, MO on February 4, 2014. Dr. Horner was born in St. Louis August 31, 1922 to Walter E. and Winifred Kinealy Bryan. She graduated from Mary Institute in 1939 and from Washington University in 1943. Win married David A. Horner in 1943, and after WWI they moved to a farm near Columbia, MO. In 1960 Win received an MA from the University of Missouri and at age 53, she received a PhD from the University of Michigan
. She had a long and distinguished career as a scholar, author and professor, teaching Rhetoric and Composition first at the University of Missouri and then as the holder of the Radford Chair of Rhetoric and Composition at Texas Christian University. Win is survived by her husband; her brother John Bryan; her children Win Grace, Richard L. Horner, Beth Horner (partner Ron Gurule), and David A. Horner, Jr. (wife Merrill); her grandchildren Leela Grace (fiancé Seth Barr), Ellie Grace, Gabriel Horner (fiancée Andrea Williamson), Wesley Horner, Miski Horner, Alexandria Horner, and John Frederick Horner; and fourteen nieces and nephews including Ann Ruger (husband Peter Ruger).
