William Brankel Obituary

Brankel, William B. Jr. had quite a long run, bravely stood his ground, but lost his battle to pneumonia and passed peacefully on Thursday, June 13, 2013. Loving and cherished father to Deborah Ann (Thomas D. Lupkey, Sr) Brankel-Lupkey. Bill was the only son born to William B. Brankel, Sr and Julia Teresa Shea Brankel on January 12, 1920 in North St. Louis in the Irish Community known as Kerry Patch. He grew up in his treasured Maplewood along with his three sisters, the late Julia Bishop, the late Delores Angthius and the late LaVerne Guzzi in a house built by their father on Lindbergh Drive. Bill married Virginia D. Steffen on July 31, 1954, who preceded him in death. He retired from McDonnel-Douglas Aircraft after 30 years of service from 19551985. Bill was a true character and everyone who knew him would attest to that, his Dadisms and presence in our home will be missed each and every day. A million Good Nights Dad until we see each other again. You will remain in our hearts forever. Services: Graveside Service, 11 AM, Sat. June 22 at Resurrection Cemetery, 6901 Mackenzie Rd. Affton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests, donations be made on behalf of William to St. Anthony's DeGreeff Hospice House or Sisters of St. Joseph at Carondelet.
