My most sincere thoughts are with the Ganey family. I worked off and on at KMOX during college - winter/summer breaks - back in the early '90s. Bill always treated me like I was one of the bunch -- one day the entire staff got new Cardinal jackets with their name on it. I was touched when he handed me one ...just being a college kid - it meant a lot. That was just Bill...friendly and fun to all. Thoughts and prayers to you.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Bill, but I wrote him back in 2006 to thank him for that awesome baseball essay he wrote (that Jack Buck read). I think of Bill and his words every time I play catch with my boys! My condolences and prayers go out to his family and friends.

An Irish heart is silent now,
Life's journey had to end,
God needed you for reasons,
We on earth cannot comprehend.
Until the day we meet again,
On this we can depend,
Your Irish eyes are smiling,
Just around the bend.

"...the time for my departure is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing."
(2 Timothy 4:6-8)
Yes Bill, you HAVE fought the good fight and kept the faith and in the process served as a wonderful Christian role model to us and for that, we will be eternally grateful. Our hearts are heavy with sadness as we prepare to bid our final farewell to you our dear friend. GOD bless you as you return, hand in hand with our LORD and SAVIOR, to a peaceful distant shore where you will bask in the warmth and radiant beauty of GOD's love for eternity.

?"I never had a policy; I have just tried to do my very best each and every day"~Abraham Lincoln~

Bill Ganey could have written that quote. He was one of the good guys. A man of great integrity and character. He said what he meant and he meant what he said.

I had the fortunate opportunity to visit with Bill a couple of weeks ago. We laughed, we cried, we said our goodbyes. We had a wonderful video chat via FaceTime with Matt Hyland. Matt recalled the time that Bill started up a lawnmower in Mr. Hyland's office at #1 Memorial Drive and nearly shook his Steuben collection off the wall.

Saying goodbye in person was truly one of the best gifts. To be able to say goodbye in person and tell that person how much you love them and how much they mean to you is a blessing. The lesson learned here, is to tell your friends and family any chance you get, that you love them and that they are appreciated. Our fate is definitely in God's hands.

To Karen, Kevin, Timmy, Lynn, Ryan and the entire Ganey family, my heart is heavy for your loss. Bill left all of us with a lifetime of memories that we will cherish always. May you find comfort in those memories. I will be forever grateful for his friendship. God Bless You all.

I knew him as Billy, then Bill, always a person of good cheer and likely to make others feel the same way. All who knew him are diminished by his loss, but grateful that he rests in peace.

Karen, Kevin, Tim, Mick, Dan, Kathy and family--
We are so sorry for your loss. Bill was a fantastic person who will be sorely missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know and love him. His smile was infectious and I loved his hardy laugh. He was quick with a big hug or strong handshake. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. With love and sympathies - Kati (Castello), Dave and Dominic Johnson
