Dr. Robert Main Burton

Burton, Dr. Robert Main, 86 of Corvallis, OR, formerly of St. Louis, passed away June 3, 2013. He was born in Oklahoma City, Okla., to Lucius W. and Florence M. Burton. He married Maurine J. Parshall on Nov. 14, 1947, in Maryland. He served in the military in World War II. He retired from the US Public Health Service Reserve as Captain-O6 (Scientist Director). He was past president and member of the American Oil Chemist Society, a 33rd degree Mason, past master of Webster Groves Lodge #84 AF&AM and enjoyed showing old movies and working on a book of remembrances of his wife. Dr. Burton received a B.S. from University of Maryland, a M.S. from Georgetown University and a Ph.D. from The Johns Hopkins University. He was affiliated with Washington University Medical School, Dept of Pharmacology, Oral Roberts University and Harris-Stowe University. Survivors include sons Dr. Robert Burton of Corvallis, Lt. Col. James Burton (Ret.) of Elk Grove, Calif., and Thomas Burton of St. Louis, Mo.; and a brother, Charles (Jack) Burton of Seattle, Wash. Grandfather of 11, great grandfather of 13. He was preceded in death by his wife; sons William and Fredrick; daughter, Katherine; parents, Lucius and Florence Burton; two brothers; and a sister. Services: Visitation at Gerber Chapel, 23 W. Lockwood, Webster Groves (63119) Monday, June 10, 12 Noon - 1:30PM. Interment service with honors to follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at 2:00PM the same day.
