Opa,
Thank you for all of the lessons you taught me and for all of the awesome times we spent together. From the day I moved in, you took me under your wing and showed me how to enjoy life. I will always remember the days we spent flying and will never forget the smile on your face after a successful trip home. You were always there to support me in everything that I did and I know that I could never have accomplished what I have today without you. You were more than just my Grandfather – you were my Opa and everything I could ever aspire to be. I miss you terribly and hope to always make you proud.

Dad, this is so very hard for me... I have lost my father. A man that has always been there for me, talked with me and helped me through some rough times. You were there at the Mayo clinic and I will never forget your beaming smile the day they helped me stand up and I was able to look you in the eye!
You taught me many things like chopping wood, building fences, cutting trees and building walls, but I will greatly miss the times we spent together doing this. The laughs, the bumps and bruises and cuts! You were the steady to my life, you made reason from madness and gave me love, patience and understanding.
I will miss the flying, the game nights and playing Free Cell matches, but most of all I will miss a very important part of my life. My heart is so sad but I know that you are watching us. I feel very blessed to have had such a wonderful and giving father. You were the diamond!
I will love you always dad.

I first met you when I had a broken leg and we were standing in the rain at Reiner's rugby game. You walked right up and asked if I was Reiner's new girlfriend Leslie, and just started talking to me. I should've known then what I was getting myself into. 4 years later, after the million games of phase 10 and mexican train, I am so thankful to have met you and to know such an incredible family. I most of all want to thank you for raising such an incredible grandson. A man that I am lucky to be with everyday. I am convinced that you are the reason he is so awesome. He shares your same spirit and spunk and I'm going to miss seeing you two have so much fun. Thank you for coming into my life, even for the little time I knew you. You've made me a better person, and will be missed everyday.

Please know that we are all thinking of you, Marianne, Zoe, Karen, Reed and family ... sending our healing thoughts & prayers to all. It's sad that we don't see each other compared to how much we used to back at the Lake (where life was young & gay)... at least we have many fond memories of Dave and smile when we think of him. Much love from our family to yours ~

We grieve with you all today from afar, thinking about Dave and what a wonderful father, grandfather, husband and brother he was, and more, to so many people. We always looked forward to seeing Dave every Christmas as he had a big smile and hug for everyone, and was always ready to dive in to help with whatever needed doing. Christmas certainly won't ever be the same. Your family knows how much you loved them, Dave, and may that love sustain them through the days to come.
Love and prayers to all of you -

What a loss, Dave was a wonderful man! Mary Ann we are so sorry for the pain you must be feeling right now. We will so miss spending time with Dave at Lake Owen. How very lucky we were to be able to visit your home in St. Louis while Dave shared so many special memories about growing up with Gene. Joe and I want you to know that our thoughts and prayers are with you as you go through this most difficult time.

Opa, I just want to say thank you for always being there for me. You raised me to be just like you (with a little dash of pink glitter thrown in). You always supported me, with everything from nursing school to "jumping silly horses over flower boxes." You taught me to never give up on myself. That I was good enough to do anything I put my mind to. You were my walking buddy, my cupcake taste tester, my garden planner and most of all my shoulder to lean on. You were one of the kindest, most generous, and overall greatest individuals I have ever known. I admired and loved you for the short 26 years that I knew you. I will miss you terribly, my world is not the same without you.

Dad Powers,
My "neighbor Dad", I will miss you so much! Talking over the fence, reliving memories of great vacations that you allowed me to go on with your family. Many nights spent in your home, many, many conversations around your kitchen table. My prayers and love are with your wonderful family, your legacy. I love you!
