Uncle Joe you will be missed. You were the joy of all our family gatherings. My kids would always ask if you were gonna be there, lol, because you were fun and made them laugh, if Uncle Joe wasnt gonna be there? They had to think if they wanted to go. This is very hard for me Uncle Joe, I remember when i was sent to your family, lol, when i was having problems with my own home life, and you, aunt joan, took me in, i will never forget that, even my cousins welcomed me with loving arms. Aunt Joan worked at pizza hut then, and i gave her a run for her money, lol, but you and your family, never gave up on me, Linda, Donna, and little Joe, I love you all, and thank you to all of your family for being there for me when i needed it. And i am here now if you need it. God Bless you all.

I had the pleasure of meeting, and working, with Joe at The Home Depot (THD), in Arnold, for the past year and a half. And, I also had the pleasure of working with his son Joe at Prairie Farms/Pevely Dairy for roughly 30 years. So, I felt a special connection to Joe having known his son for so many years. I took an instant liking to him, and we talked a lot about many things including his son.
I saw instantly that Joe was highly revered by ALL of his co-workers at THD. Joe was a very witty gentleman and was quick with a retort. He could make one laugh at the drop of a dime. Or, he knew exactly what to say in more serious situations. I wish that I could have known him longer, and had more time to spend with him. I will miss him as will everyone else at THD!
Last evening I attended his visitation and service afterward. It is obvious, 'little ' Joe, that you and your sisters loved him very much, and I'm honored that I got to sit in on the service and hear the testimonials from you, both of your sisters, and his grandson. It was very touching AND it was WONDERFUL to hear you and your family laughing. I'm sure that is what your Dad would have wanted.
Godspeed 'big' Joe, and may you rest in peace now that you're pain free.
May the Holy Spirit take the rest of the family in His hands and comfort you at this sad, and trying, time in your life.
P.S. It was GREAT to see you again Joe! I've always thought very highly of you, and I dearly remember many of the conversations we had especially about your Dad. God Bless you, my friend!

Joe was a wonderful neighbor. We wish we could have known him much much longer than we were able to. We will certainly miss looking out the window or door and seeing him taking Candy for a walk. He was such an interesting man to talk to. We loved seeing him drive in and out of the neighborhood in his shining Cadillac. He took so much pride in everything he did. We just can't understand why he was not allowed to be our neighbor longer than he was but God knows and we will keep our trust in Him who loves us more than we can ever imagine. Farewell Good Neighbor. Jerry and Barb Collins

Joe was more than a friend - he was an inspiration, he was like a father to me, he was my voice of reason - he was reality! He was always there to help me, even when it wasn't expected - he had a big big heart. we would go to lunch and talk for hours, he always knew exactly what to say to make me open my eyes, no sugar coating with Joe - I love that man and I am glad that he can finally rest without all the pain... Joe I know it's not your responsibility, but please continue to watch over us and always be there when we need you the most - to put that smile on our face(s)!! Rest in Peace JOE ZAPPULLA - you will be missed greatly.

Joe is one of my closest friends. We could talk about everything or nothing and just be happy being able to rely on each other. He could go from serious to laughing at the drop of a hat and had the same affect on others! A man with a wonderful sense of humor.
We traded rides for car repairs and traded recipes, stories from 'back in the day' to what we wanted for our futures, thoughts on life , death, our children, the list is endless as is my love for my very dear friend, Joe.
We were suppose to go to lunch today and have a margarita, I went in honor of him and had a margarita for him also. I made a toast to you , Joe and could almost hear your laughter.
I think you were a blessing in the life of everyone you touched. May you rest on peace my friend and we will have a margarita next time I see you.
You're still my rock!

I will miss Uncle Joe and his witty sense of humor. He always knew how to make you laugh. He was very grateful to have lived the life he did, and will be truly missed by many. My dad was especially close to Uncle Joe (his Nephew, Steve Allen), and it breaks my heart to see my dad sadenned by Uncle Joe's passing, my dad looked up to Uncle Joe a lot and loved him very much. We all loved him, and will miss him dearly. See you in the next life, uncle.
