I forgot to add that I was so impressed with Uncle Dick's vegetable garden. He was so active for his age, helping Mary Jo paint her house, keeping up his condo with such pride and diligence for so many years. The vegetable garden--symbolic of his love of nature and nurturance of others. Whenever I came to St. Louis and got to see him, he made me feel special. I miss him.

Words could never convey how fond the Gipson family was of Uncle Dick, starting with Mom and Dad and each of us. He brought such joy and fun and laughter and care. He nurtured Mother and Dad as he served them grilled fish and homemade fries and would toss out licorice and other candy. always a surprise. He made life worth living, even when sadness was there. When my father was dying of cancer, he would bring coffee and doughnuts to my mother at the hospital after a long night. He would send her home and take shifts. He rubbed lotion on my father's feet when he was in unbearable pain. Uncle Dick was Jesus in this world, love in action, love in his dear warm smile, love in his laughter, encouragement and care.
My Mother is unable to write, so I will speak for her. She would want to say, Dick, my young brother, we have always been so close. I love you from the bottom of my heart. I am glad that you are now at peace and in the joy of our Lord's kingdom, and united with your lost baby and with dear Colleen. I thank you for your life and all of the wonderful times we have had, on Kingsbury, Hampton Park, and Michigan. All of the antics, like the watermelon incident in Hillsdale. and the candy from the drug store in St. Louis. Lanny and I had so much fun with you and Colleen through the years. I know that you are at peace and have a special place in heaven in His perpetual light. I know that you will continue to pray for your family, each and everyone, for their faith and peace and strength through their grief and through all trials ahead. You will love them with fatherly love from your heavenly home. I love you, dear Dick.

Reddog:
I'll miss you. Not only for being a great father but a great friend. I visualized you trolling your fishing boat thru the gates. However I still have your current fishing license at my house. Save a spot on your boat for me. I'll join you fishing later. No hurry though :) Tell mom I love her. Thank you for making such a wonderful impact on my life and so many others.
P.S. We had room for your book in the casket.
Your son Matt

All of the "dogs" from the golf and bowling leagues will miss your bizarre sense of humor. You certainly made both of the leagues entertaining. Most of all you will be missed as a very generous and thoughtful father- in- law. Your hard work on this earth is complete. Rest peacefully my friend.

I have so many special and funny memories of Uncle Dick. For example, I will never forget my father and Uncle Dick in the front seat on the way home from Busch Stadium rockin out WILDLY to Credence Clearwater Revival singing "Born on a Bayou", BEATING on the dashboard and screaming "Hooaah hooaah!!"! Look up the word "fun" in the dictionary and you'll find Uncle Dick's picture. Uncle Dick also was the most thoughtful, present, attentive man to my parents, for example sitting at my father's bedside as he lay dying and giving him a haircut when Dad felt so ungroomed, and always visiting my mother and keeping her in stitches. Her brother hung the moon in her eyes. My heart goes out to my cousins and their families. My most sincere condolences, Marie

There are not enough words to express all the many memories that the Dazey family and especially "Peanut Butter Man" and all the stories that he used to make up to tell our girls - just to explain some situation or person...thus the name Peanut Butter Man. Dick and Colleen and the Dazey clan will always be a part of a very special memory of our lives in St. Louis. We love all of you and are so blessed to have your friendship. You are all in our thoughts and prayers
