Dear Mrs. Ahrens & Family,
I was shocked and saddened to find out today of Rick's sudden passing back in November. I found out just this morning when speaking with one of his Pharmacy coworkers. I have known Rick over 28 years, worked with him in the OPT Pharmacy at the VA Medical Center and then as a coworker here at Mercy Hospital-St. Louis. He was ALWAYS a kind, generous and compassionate man and went above & beyond for his family, friends and coworkers. If you needed help, Rick was the first one to step up to the plate. He spoke often of his family and how proud he was of the kids' accomplishments. He will be missed tremendously as a friend and coworker. May you have consolation in knowing he meant so much to so many.

Rick will be sorely missed at St. John's. I am a nurse who works on the ortho floor where Rick was our go-to Pharmacist. From the first day I started my job and met him 5 years ago he was so wonderful and helpful, I knew he was a special man. He was by far the best Pharmacist at St. John's (just ask all of the ortho nurses!)and we will really miss him. My heart goes out to his family during this time.

Dear Terri and Family...so sorry to hear of Rick's passing. When I was at LSMS, Rick would stop in my office and we would have great chats about duck hunting north of St. Charles off the Mississippi. Saw him about a year ago at Mercy Hospital, passing in the hallway. Naturally, we talked duck hunting! I considered him a good friend and I admired him. Rick, Terri and the kids are in our thoughts and prayers.

To the Ahrens Family, Rich was a dear classmate at CBC. At one of the reunions he was so kind to me after not having seen me for many years. Whenever I think of CBC and the wonderful times there, Rich's face seems to pop into my mind. He was a great guy and my sympathy is with you.

To the Ahrens Family,
I was sadden to learn of Rick's passing. I remember him fondly during my time while working at CBC H.S. and my first week working for my former employer Mercy. He spotted me in the cafeteria at Mercy STL and we talked for a long time during our lunch breaks. I know how much he is missed by many people.
Cherish the memories and know that you now have an angel in heaven who is with you always. May Rick RIP and may each of you find comfort during this difficult time.

Terri and the Ahrens Family,
I was really shocked to get a call that Rick had passed, especially after just speaking to him Thursday, and he seemed on the road to recovery. I had been looking forward to doing all those outdoor things with Rick and getting my Will together with Rick and Ricky to and the families to pursue some of these interests.
Rick was the most solid, responsible guy that I have ever known. He made great contributions to the organizations he worked for and to his family through his hard work and bulldog determination. His loss will be greatly felt by his family, coworkers and all who knew him.
I am sure Rick will be in his glory meeting his Maker, and will be rewarded for faithfulness and service while in our presence.

I am so sadden by the news of Rick's passing. I was proud to call him a friend. He was our pharmacist on the 3rd floor. Always willing to help no matter what the situation was. Ahrens Family-
I am so sorry to hear of Rick's passing. I was blessed to be able to work with him on the 3rd floor for 6 years. He was a good friend and mentor, I learned a lot from him and will miss him greatly. He loved each one of you so much and was so proud of his family, may you all find peace and comfort in this sad time.
