Robert Raleigh Obituary

Raleigh, The Honorable Robert Gerst Robert Gerst Raleigh, 61, of Florissant, MO, born February 11, 1952, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 28, 2013. Bob was of counsel at Armstrong Teasdale, LLP, and also served as a municipal court judge for the City of Florissant, MO. Bob graduated from McCluer High School in 1970, then received a bachelor's degree from Drury College in 1979. He graduated from St. Louis University School of Law in 1983 and was admitted to both the Missouri and Illinois bars. Bob was gifted with a beautiful tenor voice and loved to sing. He glorified God by singing in the Chancel Choir of Central Presbyterian Church. He was invited to sing in the home of Jack Buck on several Christmas Eves. He loved to make people laugh, and was a proud member of The Courthouse Steps and the Dogtown Tenors. Bob was a member of the Order of the Veiled Prophet and loved dressing to the nines and escorting his girlfriend, Noelle, to the Veiled Prophet Ball every December. He was also a board member of the Hot City Theatre, a volunteer for the St. Louis Variety Club, and a member of Elks Lodge #9. Bob was a season ticket holder at the Muny and also was an avid fan of shows at the Fox Theater. Bob had a deep compassion for all animals and was an ardent supporter of the Humane Society of Missouri and the Belleville Humane Society. He had a fierce love for his Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Charlie, who served as the 2011 HSMO Bark in the Park Mascot. He was happiest simply sitting on his couch snuggling with and receiving canine kisses from Charlie and Noelle's dogs, Oscar and Fenway. Bob will be remembered for his jovial, gregarious spirit and his talent for telling jokes and making people laugh. He was kind, gentle, loyal, generous and loving. He was truly an honorable gentleman and will be greatly missed by his friends and colleagues. He was preceded in death by his mother, Isabelle Gerst Raleigh and his father, James R. Raleigh, Jr. He is survived by his one true love, Noelle Miles and his beloved dog Charlie, as well as his Chancel Choir family at Central Presbyterian Church, his friends at Armstrong Teasdale and the Florissant Court, his brothers in the Order of the Veiled Prophet and many friends in the field of law and the world of animals. Services: A Memorial Service will be conducted in the Sanctuary of Central Presbyterian Church, Hanley Rd. at Davis Dr., Clayton, Monday, August 5 at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow the Service. Private interment at Bellerive Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Belleville Area Humane Society or the Humane Society of Missouri. Friends will be received at THE LUPTON CHAPEL, 7233 Delmar Blvd., University City, on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Condolences at www.luptonchapel.com A SERVICE OF THE LUPTON CHAPEL

I had the pleasure of knowing Bob through Central Presbyterian, where I am on the music staff. He was a strong presence in the choir and church, and a passionate advocate for the things in which he believed. I remember him singing a show tune at the choir cabaret just a few months ago, which he sang with great enthusiasm. My condolences to Noelle and family and all who knew Bob.

Bob would come into the drugstore in Florissant when I was a pharmacy student. Tuesday was "girls nite" as he would say and he would come in with a funny story or joke. I saw him just summer at Pirrone's and while he didn't recognize me, a quick reminder and he regaled my boys with all kinds of stories. I was on vacation Monday, but thought about him frequently. Godspeed Bob, from "Sr. Mary"

Noelle, I am very sorry for your loss. Bob and I worked together at Armstrong Teasdale for five years and, when you came into his life, he was the happiest I had ever seen him. He was a good man and I am sure he is singing in Heaven with the angels.

Farewell Friend Bob. It was a joy to share life with you, especially the last few years when Noelle transformed you. My personal tribute will be to continue as long as my body holds up to raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to help find a cure for blood cancers.

Dear Bob, What a pleasure it has been to call you friend all these years since your high school days. We feel blessed that we ran into you having Fathers Day Brunch at Bixby's. Wonderful to reconnect and we are happy Patti and her husband were there to see and visit with you. We feel the hand of God was there that we had this time with you and meet your lovely Noelle. Peace be with you. You and Rick will be together in paradise.

Bob was one of the kindest people I've ever known which I don't say lightly. He would speak to a young attorney he'd only met once before as if they had been friends for 20 years. He will be missed more than most.
