It does not seem like my very good friend , Ed , has been gone that long. He was liked by all that knew him. What a super person, I am very proud to have been a friend of his. Rest in peace my friend!

Uncle Ed is a great soul. He will bring laughter to those of us already in heaven. He will rejoice in being reunited with family and friends. I imagine he is still greeting people in a long line - welcoming him to his new home. My heart is with Aunt Esther and their kids who remain here. I only hope he is out of pain, and passing out the beer. Is there beer in heaven? Hope the song is wrong. Love all the Oestereichs like family. Loved Uncle Ed like a father. May he be in peace and out of pain.

I watched my Pop for many years and learned how be a person of character with dignity, honor and respect for God, family and country. My Pop set the benchmark. I will miss him always and will love him forever. It was an honor and a privilege to have the opportunity to care for him late in life. We spent many hours together and I wouldn't trade that for anything. I wouldn't be the man I am without him.
I love you Pop! Godspeed and have fun at the ballpark with Grandpa, Sonny and Richard. I hope they play two and Stan the Man goes yard a couple of times and you get one of the balls!

You will be missed so much, Grandpa. I'm so lucky to have a lifetime of wonderful memories, and to know I was loved by you. Your spirit will live on through the stories we tell. I hope you have a beer in hand, listening to the Cardinals win, and teasing everyone around you in heaven. Love you always.

Uncle Ed was a true American hero. Our family was blessed by having him in our lives. He taught us about love and the importance of family. A gentle giant with a heart of gold. He brought laughter into our lives and protected each and everyone of us with his strength, he encouraged us to do our best, learn from our mistakes and to take pride in who we are. Thank you Uncle Ed. Knowing you are home again with family, safe with Jesus makes your passing somewhat easier..Rest in Peace dear Uncle...till we all meet again, and what a joyous family reunion that will be. Your Niece, Christy

Ed Oestereich was the uncle that most people can only dream of having. He had a wonderful and caring personality. He was funny and fun to be around. He was supportive to all and always inquired as to what was going on in my life and really cared. Uncle Ed was a joy to be around. Ed brought my father, LeRoy Beard, former Fire Chief of the Missouri National Guard, into the Guard. The two served together until their retirements. One of the photos hanging in my office is of Ed and Ester with my parents all dressed up in their wild bowling shirts going off to another National Guard bowling competition. The four loved traveling around the country together with the Guard bowling team. The whole Beard clan will miss Ed Ostereich. Heaven has a great new airman.

I was sorry to hear that Ed has passed away. He was a good guy that would take the time to help stupid young troops like myself. He was a dedicated member of the Missouri Air Guard and an outstanding human being. He will surely be missed.

I am out of and can not attend the services for my very good and long time friend I first had the good fortune to meet Ed when I first was hired by the Air Guard in 1972. He also ran the bowling group that went to the Military Bowling Tour. for many years. He will be missed by many. May God bless all of "ED's" family in these trying times.

I met Ed in the early 50's. We had both served in Naval Aviation and became very good friends throughout the years in the Air Guard. We had alot in common to talk about. Ed was well liked by the enlisted men and also the commissioned ranks. He will be missed by all at members and former members of the Guard. I am honored to have been able to add him to the Air Guards Honor Roll. The site is
