Marilyn Myers Obituary

Myers, Marilyn J. (nee Lewis), Thurs., Oct. 3, 2013 at age 89. Beloved wife of the late Earl M. Myers; dear mother and motherin-law of Cynthia Ludewig, Eric (Brenda) Myers, Maureen (Charles) Toland, Michelle (Stan) O'Donnell-Gulick and Tracy Myers; dear sister of Dorothy McDaniel, Frank Lewis and the late Al, Gene and Bob Lewis; dear grandmother of 17, great-grandmother of 8; our dear sister-inlaw, aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend. Marilyn grew up in Lawrence, Kansas, moving to St. Louis as a child. She received scholarships to attend the University of Iowa, where she met and married Earl. Throughout her life, she was an avid genealogist, teacher, scout leader, world traveler and puppeteer. She was the Founder, Director and Teacher of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Pre-School. She was an active member and board member of the Puppet Guild of Greater St. Louis. She was a member of Puppeteers of America (past board member) and International Puppetry Organizations. She brought an amazing amount of enthusiasm regarding the arts, culture, history and worldwide travel to all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services: at the ORTMANN-STIPANOVICH Funeral Home, 12444 Olive Blvd., Creve Coeur, Mon., Oct. 7, 1 p.m. Interment Bellerive Gardens Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to, Puppeteers of America, c/o Memorial Donations, 310 E. 38th St., Suite 228, Minneapolis, MN 55409. Visitation from 2-8 p.m. Sunday.

My dear Michelle, Stan, and Family,

My heart and prayers reach out to you as you move through this time of remembering the gifts of your Mother Marilyn. Given her many talents and long-time commitment to the art and magic of puppetry I imagine she will be remembered and missed by many. Please know that my heart and prayers will be with you throughout this weekend, the coming days, weeks and months as you all individually and collectively move through this time of letting go on one level and embracing a new kind of connection and relationship to your beloved Mother, friend and loved one.
