Even before and after Harold's reign as mayor, Mrs. Dielmann was in many ways the "first lady" of Creve Coeur! I'll miss her as a friend and a great neighbor.
As one who is interested in the oft-ignored history of St Louis County I cherish my chats with her as she fondly recalled rural life around our neighborhood environs of long ago. She would warmly and vividly bring that past alive.
We can all take heart that a good part of her lives on for generations to come through her many wonderful kids and grandkids.
This week her beloved city's name is particularly appropriate to describe the emotions of all who were fortunate to know her: "creve coeur" -- French for "broken heart."
