I didn't hear of Matt's untimely passing until weeks after, I am so sorry for your loss....it is my belief you will only be away from him for this short mortal existence, and will be with him again for eternity....God bless you all.

Matthew was special person in our family....always wanted to talk to everyone at a picnic, tell stories and jokes when we were together, always, always had a smile on his face. We will miss him terribly.

Matt was such a sweet, kind and gentle person I will miss seeing and talking to him. He always had a smile on his face and I am saddened by this horrible tragedy. Thoughts and prayers are with him and his family!!

My husband & I were acquaintances of Matt. Whenever we saw Matt he was so friendly and kind to us. Many times he would sit and talk to us while we ate at various restaurants around the Fenton area. He was always happy and loved life. We were so sorry to hear of the tragic loss. May you be comforted by the Lord at this sorrowful season in your life.

I just wanted to say I'm sorry for your loss. I knew Matt well through a family friend. He would always grab my hand and ask me how I am. He knew when I was sad and would check on me to see if I was ok. He would also ask me if I was mad at him and tell me he was sorry if he made me mad. When I heard about the accident I felt so bad for him. Once I found out it was Matt, I was and still am loss for words.

I have been overwhelmed by the Love and Support extended to my sister, Karyn Pettit (Matthew Griesheimer's mom), her husband Mike, their children Melody and Mike and her entire family during these last, nearly unbearable and unbelievable, 5 days. You may think it was a small gesture...it wasn't. It has been absolutely monumental in helping them and the entire family get through the early days of this horrific event. Each and every one of you who took the time to leave Facebook comments, support, words of encouragement, stories of your encounters with him, STLtoday Legacy messages in his guest book, attend his wake, his Memorial service, made phone calls, displayed special Memorials for him, made motions in memory of him, sent emails, text messages, shared thoughts and memories, expressed your grief and loss and acknowledged ours, we Thank You from the bottom of our hearts. The buzz that was heard around Fenton and surrounding towns made its way to our ears and our hearts and was more comforting than words can express. It is clear that Matt was a special, one-of-a-kind young man who deeply cared about people and made it a priority to let them know that not only did their lives matter to him but also doing whatever he could to brighten their day. If Matt continues to live through all whose lives he touched in his short 34 years, this world will become a much better place than it was on June 11th, the day he left it. Thank you all. For lifting his family during this time when taking the next step forward seems unimaginable. Hearing of the impact he made on so many peoples lives gave his family the strength that was needed today as we gathered to tell him Good Bye, for now.

First I would just like to say I am so sorry for your loss. I have known Matt for a little over 4 years now. He would always come into my store ( value village) he would always make it a point to come find me and tell me hello, shake my hand, talk for a bit, an ask me your not mad at me.... We still friends. As I sit here and write this I can still hear his sweet voice, see his smile and think to myself god had received another great angel. Matt you will never be forgotten by my employees or myself. I pray that you are at peace my friend! Thank you so much for bringing your kids and wife in to meet me Sunday! I hope they can find peace at this difficult time.
