Fred Andrae Obituary

Andrae, Fred Paul Former St. Peters, Missouri resident Fred Paul Andrae, 91, died at his home on October 12, 2007 in Plano, Texas. Fred Andrae was born June 6, 1916 in St.Louis, Missouri to Fred and Katherine (Krich) Andrae. He graduated from Normandy High School in 1934. He married Ruth Louise (Bostic) Andrae in St.Louis on October 28, 1944. They resided in Overland, Missouri where they lived in the same home for 34 years. Fred was drafted into the Army during World War II and served as a radio operator while stationed in the Pacific. He was awarded the Bronze Star and returned to Missouri after being honorably discharged. Fred served his bricklaying apprenticeship in St. Louis and was a lifetime member of the Bricklayers' Union. After retiring from laying brick, Fred worked as a sign painter for B & N Sign Painting; later he was employed by Dierbergs in St. Peters, Missouri. Even after Fred and Ruth moved to Plano in 2004 to be closer to their daughters and grandchildren, Fred remained an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fly fishing, gardening, and bird watching. In retirement, Fred continued painting watercolors and building custom fly rods. Fred is survived by his wife, Ruth; his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Ed Briscoe of Dallas; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Kevin Hearty of Plano; grandchildren, Stephanie (Briscoe) and Chris Doyle of Texas City, Texas, Kristin (Briscoe) and Todd Marinko of Dallas, Mark and Holly (Lanham) Briscoe of Denver and Jeff Hearty and Katherine Hearty, both of Dallas; great-grandchildren, Corbin, Charles, Christopher and Cullen Doyle of Texas City. Mr. Andrae was preceded in death by his brother Walter 'Bush' Andrae.Services: Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007 12:30 p.m. at COLLIERS Funeral Home, 3400 N. Lindbergh Blvd. (Bridgeton). Inter ment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Visitation 10:30 a.m. Tues. until service time.
