From Ed's LinkedIN entry:
I've been a life-long musician. Started piano lessons at age 7 with the late Margaret "Bee" Hauptfleisch. Continued organ and theory studies with the late Lloyd Bartlett. Started playing professionally at age 16. Received Bachelor of Music - Theory from St. Louis Institute of Music, 1972. Worked with Johnny Polzin and Russ David doing country club parties, weddings, shows, etc. Played for the Veiled Prophet and Fleur de Lis balls, and Variety Club Telethons. Conducted for The Mills Brothers, played piano for Carol Lawrence, Phyllis Diller, The Four Lads, and numerous others. Played organ for Frankie Laine. Played piano for the St. Louis Symphony Pops Series at Queeny Park. Played organ on "The Playhouse Party" with Russ David on WEW radio, and was recording and sound engineer during it's reincarnation in 1991 - '92. Also had my own group "The Better Half" which played at the St. Louis Playboy Club, The Drake Hotel in Chicago, the Hyatt in Atlanta, and many other hotels and restaurants in Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, and elsewhere. Taught Jazz Piano at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, and Fontbonne College, St. Louis. Was Music Director for 10 years at Friedens Chapel in St. Louis conducting Choir, and playing Pipe Organ, piano, Hammond B-3 Organ and Yamaha Clavinova Keyboard until the church closed in late 2010. Organist and Choir Director for The Scottish Rite, Valley of St. Louis. House organist at the St. Louis Fox Theater. Its been a great ride, sad to see the Music Business going away!
Interests - Vintage Hammond and Theatre Pipe Organs. Love to travel. If I could afford it, I would have a condo in South Florida, but have to be satisfied visiting for a couple weeks in the winter. Love classic cars. Had a couple but it turned out to be more than I could deal with both financially and mechanically. Love my 2 sons. In many ways, they couldn't be more different from each other, yet they are very close and both are doing very well. Aaron is in the Steel business and lives in Pittsburgh. He's an "organization" man and likes holding offices in organizations he's active in and loves to party. Adam has wanted to be a chef since he was a child and has become Executive Sous Chef at LeBernardin, Zagat rated #1 restaurant in NYC. He's got a beautiful wife and the most beautiful little girl, Olivia. (Of course, I'm a bit biased about that!) He's a real "family man".
Advice for Contacting Edward - For cryin' out loud, call me! I'm so LONELY. Call me especially if you have gigs that pay real money!!!!
Ed, Miss ya already.

Ill Brother Ed, your music for the Reunion's will be missed. Yes, someone else can play, but not with your love for the music. But, the Lord must have needed you to play more then we do. I know you will make us proud.

Edward Plitt was a highly regarded and talented organist, playing for the patrons and touring guests at the Fox Theatre in St. Louis. He was a master organist and entertainer for over 20 years at the Fox, second only to Mr. Stan Kann!
We are all so very sorry to hear of
Edward's passing and our deepest condolences go out to his families. He will be remembered forever as a true friend of the Fox.
May he be blessed with eternal rest and peace.

Dear Kathy, Aaron and Adam, Mickey and I we're so shocked and saddened to hear about Ed's sudden passing. He was a wonderful man, and I owe him a debt of gratitude for bringing Mick and I together. If it wasn't for Ed's persistence, Mick wouldn't have gotten around to asking me out! We spent so many great times together over the years listening to Ed and Leslie play at Patrick's,going to Jimmy Buffet concerts, so many fun parties at Don's and Dan and Jean's houses, many great meals enjoyed together. It's hard to imagine that he's gone. But he'll always be our hero for bringing us together. We'll think of him often and keep him alive in our hearts and memories. He's was a sweet, sweet and wonderful person. We love you Ed.

Eddie and I stayed in close touch after we moved to Florida twelve years ago - and I really valued his friendship, as well as the opportunities to work with him often. I will miss him terribly. My thoughts and heart are with his family.

So sorry to hear this news, Ed was a talented pianist/organist/piano technician and a good friend. Back in the 70's he helped Gary Presley & me to get those great B3 sounds out of Gary's Farfisa combo organ. Prayers to you and your family.

Ed was a wonderful guy, great friend and extremely talented musician. We shared many laughs and life stories over the years. Most recently Ed came to my home to tune my new piano. I chided him about playing the same note for 45 minutes and asked if he knew another song. He began playing a medley and didn't leave for almost three hours. What a joy. He will be missed. Rest in peace my friend.

Ed was a great musician and a good friend. He would tune my piano, give me piano advice, and help me on how to play keyboard with small groups. I always enjoyed listening to him and Jan play in various nightspots in town. When I saw him play solo, he would play the synthesizer not like a keyboard, but using riffs that would be used by the instrument he was imitating (trumpet, sax, etc). Thanks Ed for the good music you supplied.
