I was a lifeguard for the Finlay family back in the 70' s. They were a wonderful family and Brian was pleasant and polite boy. My condolences to the family,

I was a team mate of Brian's at Sugar Creek Swim Club, and later at Duke University. We were two of three long distance swimmers at Sugar Creek. I am sorry for your loss. It is a little shocking to find out about this now, but we lost touch. It sounds like he lived a wonderful like. Again, I am sorry. (Formerly Charlotte Johnson.)

Dear Finlay Family--
We are so saddened and shocked to hear of Brian's passing. We are reminiscing on all our years with Sugar Creek Swim Club, the travels, and the friendships formed by both swimmers and their parents. There were none better than memories of Brian. I remember being at his wedding and what a joyous occasion it was! Our thoughts, prayers and love come your way for comfort during this most difficult time.

Dear Brian's Family, This is a Duke swimming college friend of Brian. I was so dismayed to hear about your loss and will pray for you from Australia, where I have been since I graduated from Duke in 1989. I always remember Brian from our time as fellow swimmers for Coach Thompson -- and how friendly he was to everyone -- always saying hello, always smiling, always reaching out to people. God Bless You---with much love, Katharine Keough McLennan (Duke Swimming '89)

I'm not sure Mr & Mrs Finlay will remember us, buy my Son, Boyd and I remember Brian as a young Sugar
Creek Swimmer and such a "good kid" with a lot of team spirit, yet he interacted well with all the other
teams. I recall seeing the family at a
Phillips meet in Oklahoma. Our boys were the only swimmers from their respective St Louis teams, but you wouldn't know that from their behavior. Boyd and I both extend our sincere sympathy to both his parents and his wife and children.

I first met Brian Finlay at (where else?) a swimming pool. He was teaching Jack to swim. I chatted with him and his father for quite awhile. Delightful. Seven years later I show up in his office with my little girl not realizing he was the man from the pool. He remembered us. My girls have great teeth. We always looked forward to our appointments. God Bless this man and his family! Martha Vatterott
