My thoughts and prayers are with you. May you find peace in knowing that she is with the Lord. She talked of you all often and I could feel the love as she told stories about family gatherings and trips you made together. You have my deepest sympathy. I will remember her fondly.

It was a privilege to know Shirley. She was an inspiration in her dedication to what ever she did. The Gold club for LHS was just one of the many things that benefited from her talents. I wish I had known her longer. Many prayers for her family.

Shirley was my dearest friend; she was like a sister to me. I shall miss her so much. I pray everyones tears will quickly turn to wonderful memories of a wonderful person and a true friend.

It has been a blessing to know Shirley -- my only regret is that I didn't meet her until the 90's at St. Paul. What a wonderful, caring, loving, fun to be with person she was!
From our initial contact she was always so interested in sharing activities and doing things together, from bible class, playing golf to bridge games. She made everyone in the groups feel wanted and cared for.
What a gift she was to us all.
All during her illness I never saw anything but hope and faith in the Lord. She was never out of touch with what was going on and understood and remembered things the rest of us couldn't.
She was indeed a joy in my life and I want to express my utmost sympathy to Bill and all the rest of the family. We know she is with the Lord and thanks be to God for the peace that provides to us.

Thoughts and sympathies to Shirley's family; she was one of a kind. We went to grade school and high school together and we moved away but never lost touch. When I think of Shirley, I remember all the fun and good times we had, playing ping pong, taking dance lessons, walking home from school, sleighriding and skating and biking...sad that she doesn't have another 20 or so years to enjoy her family...glad that we were all blessed to know her!

Our Christian sympathy to Shirley's family - we go all the way back to Grace Wellston - where her dad, Leo Buethe, was Principal. We attended several of the luncheons where Shirley tried to keep the Grace Wellston ambers glowing. We'll always be grateful for her dedication to making the Lutheran High School "Gold Club" a reality. Her suffering has ended and her new life is eternal with our Lord.

Shirley was friendly, kind, thoughtful, helpful, and fun. We knew each other from Grace Wellston/Pagedale in the 50s and were pleased to meet again at St. Paul's Des Peres in the 90s. Her parents and my grandparents were the best of friends. Shirley was a wonderful example of a fine Christian woman who gracefully accepted her debilitating illness while keeping her pleasing personality. I'll always remember her.

My heart goes out to Bill, Dottye/Jerry, Laura/Mike, David/Lauren and all the talented (Shirley's words)grandchildren with the loss of your dear loved one.
Simply put: Shirley was my friend. Throughout the 23-years we knew one another our motto was "we agree to disagree." As many of you may know: Shirley had strong opinions (and so do I).
With her upbeat attitude and cheerleader demeanor, Shirley was the glue that kept those of us who worked at Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. (SSCC) close.
Every 1st Sat. in April former SSCC women employees, who chose to follow Shirley, attended St. Paul Lutheran Church Women's Friendship Breakfast. It was a faith-based event that was more infused with sisterhood.
I cherished each year as a touch-tone with Shirley, her personal friends and our former colleagues to stay-in-touch despite life changes.
Please know Shirley Spring was loved by many, including me.
P.S. Much love and comfort to Bill, her ever-loyal husband of 55-years, who made sure Shirley "did it her way:" spending the past few months at home.
