Kate was an amazing and loving friend. She helped me through a very hard time, even though she was going through hard times herself. I miss her so, but I know she is with us all and forever in our hearts. She was a true friend and she was my hero.

To the Moon, Dirksen and Hawkins family, the photo montage of your BEAUTIFUL KATIE; so nice, a great reflection of her smile and spirit even on the NOT SO GOOD DAYS. She was a lovely, loving person who touched all that knew her. You will miss her deeply; but her smile will remain in your heart. Love and condolences to you all.

Kate was always a shining light in my professional and personal life. I could always count on her beautiful, sparkling smile, her contagious laugh and sense of humor, her optimism, and above all her kindness. This was always so clear to me as we worked together or enjoyed a meal together. She was a wise, talented and devoted professional who was always ready to share a fun story about her grand kids. Her love for family, friends and for ALL children was abundantly clear and demonstrated in countless ways. What a wonderful friend she was! We had so much fun talking about music, work and life. I will truly miss her. Certainly her legacy of kindness and devotion will endure. Thank you Kate. Rest in peace.

Dear Mike & Lori, Tim & Mary -
I am sad to hear Aunt Kathy passed.
Tim - we talked about her when we were in Kansas City, she was in agony and is now at peace. I know that doesn't take the hurt out of your hearts.

Kate was one of the nicest people to work for when I was inCahokia's Special Ed. Dept. 8 years ago. Although I now work in the Curriculum Dept. I would run into Kate periodically and she always had a smile on her face. My thoughts and prayers are with Kate's family and please know that she is at peace. Mary Ann Mikesell
