Stephen Hartenbach Obituary

Hartenbach, Stephen C. Batman Friday June 29, 2012. Dear father of Heidi (David) Hartenbach Schuessler and Heather (Joe) Hartenbach Conder; dear brother of Mary Joan Davenport and Jane Marie Teed; dear grandfather of Augustus Conder; brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend to many. Steve had many achievements in his life. He was elected Alderman in Sunset Hills, Missouri from 1979-1983. He was a member of the board of governors of the Missouri Athletic Club from 1998-2001. He had a lot of experience and enjoyed doing interior design work and floor covering fields. Some of Steve's hobbies were enjoying life in general, such as boating, swimming, duck hunting, golf and target shooting. He also enjoyed dressing up as Batman and fixing old cars to turn into Bat mobiles to take part in the VP Parade every year in St. Louis. Steve always enjoyed seeing children smile when they saw him dressed up as Batman in the parade. He was a loving, caring person that was full of heart. Services: Memorial service Monday July 9, 2012, 11:00 am at the Ladue Chapel, 9450 Clayton Rd. with a reception to follow service at the church to celebrate Steve's life. Thanks to all of you who got to know him, and shared your lives with Steve. You will always be remembered as a special person in his life. I just saw that Steve had passed away. I know we haven't talked much in the past few years but I will miss him so much. He meant a lot to our family and we all remember him full of fun and caring. I worked for him for 6 years and it feels like I knew him forever. I am saddened by this loss and for his family that I know he loved!!

We always enjoyed Steve`s trips to Nashville. As a native St. Louisan, I had lots of mutual memories to share with Steve when he came to visit M.J. and Mark. May God`s grace be a comfort for all the family during this difficult time.

I was saddened to read of Steve's passing today. Ironically, it was just after the VP Parade that he loved so much.

While I had not seen Steve often in the past few years, whenever we did run into each other, he was always happy go-lucky, kind and friendly.

Khorassan and the Korps will miss him...but I have a feeling that he'll be having a "Bat-damn" good time in the Great Beyond.

I know Steve won't mind if I blow the foam off a Budweiser or two in his honor today. Happy Trails Amigo...until we meet again!

This news is totally unexpected...as Steve was a distant cousin of mine, married into my brother in law's family, and was an all around great guy forever. We are just saddened beyond expression as we had no idea of any health issues. What can be said to express the sorrow at this time, except both Louise and myself can offer only sympathies to Steve's family, and join in our condolences to an unexpected sorrow. Rest in Peace, Steve.
