Born Audrey Kathryn Venneman on August 31, 1931, in Saint Louis, Missouri, she died peacefully and quietly on Monday, October 28, 2013, surrounded by her family, following a prolonged and arduous battle with Parkinson's Disease. Daughter of the late Henry J. and the late Caroline Dierkes Venneman; survived by her loving husband and devoted caregiver of 62 years, Raymond J. McAlevey; dear mother of Susan M. The family also wishes to extend its heartfelt gratitude to the skilled-care and Hospice Team of Bethesda SouthGate for the exemplary care and compassion they provided during her final weeks. As a final demonstration of her generous spirit, Audrey donated her body to the Washington University School of Medicine with the hope that the medical community might one day find a cure for Parkinson's Disease. Her family and friends take comfort in the fact that she is now free from the bonds of the disease that slowly consumed her.
