Recently heard from Frank Mooney about your loss. Easily, one of the kindest, easiest going parents with whom I had the pleasure of meeting. Both of your parents always went out of their way to make us feel like members of the family during our high school days. Every time I revisit St. Louis, I find myself driving by your house on Lindell and remembering the rhythm and blues emanating from the music room and the ambience of your home and friendliness of your parents. God Bless them and the entire Costigan family.

Mr. Edward John Costigan was my hero who became a beloved father figure after my own Dad passed away in 1962. He truly knew how to live, love, and share his passion for everything with those around him. Above all, he had a gift for making every individual feel special importance when in his presence. I was even extra privileged that his daughter (Weezie) not only shared a close friendship with me, but also included me in many awesome family activities and events with my favorite being Christmas Eve caroling :-). The Costigans are all among treasured memories from my youth who will forever hold a special place in my heart. You are all in my prayers during this time of great loss.

A gracious and gifted gentleman whose wry smile was both engaging and comforting. I first knew him (and Sarah and the kids) as my parents' friends when we lived "on the other side of the tracks" from the house on Lindell. I continued to have the good fortune of seeing him on occasion throughout my life as well as getting reports of his "Joie de Vivre" from Ed, Jr.

Dear Sally & Carol;

My deepest sympathy & prayers as you mourn the death of your dear father/father-in-law.

With love,

Having grown up in St. Louis and spending many wounderful years at the Costigan's home on Lindel Blvd with my buddy Ed,Jr., it was my great honor to have known Mr. Costigan, Sr. He represented all of the wonderful characteristics of a fading generation: cordial, straight forward, honest and kind. I extend my condolences to Ed, Carol and the entire Costigan family.

My prayers are with my Costigan relatives. Uncle Ed left a legacy in his lifetime that would be a challenge for any ordinary man. Our job on earth is to leave a mark. Uncle Ed left large and broad footprints that make us all proud. I will miss the many memories of visiting the home on Lindell. We have another Angel watching over us today and always.

January 18, 2013

Ed lived a life that inspired us all to be the best we could be, with God always forefront and a smile on our lips. He was such a wonderful husband to my grandmother, Nana, and we will miss him so much!

Just found out of Mr C.s passing yesterday. My experiences with him he was in the twilight of his life. What a great generation of Americans He and his golfing buddies were.
He lived life to the fullest, great family man, good friend to many. My condolence to the family, I know He will be missed.

January 17, 2013

I notice so many condolences refer to "Mr. Costigan". It denotes the respect and dignity one was compelled to render to this father of seven and the kind man who treated others with respect and dignity, no matter the age. "Mr. Costigan" was my good friend, Sally's father who kept up with all of his kids and knew what all of their friends were doing, too. Farewell, Mr. Costigan. Brooke Zeuschel Bledsoe, Napa, CA

Mr. C, what a gentleman. Most of my memories of him revolve around golf. The first time we played was in a district father son at Glen Echo with Eddie , Mr C my Dad and I . We got to the 9th hole and he hit it really close. I asked him how many holes in one he had . He said 4 but! Playing with his father when he was a boy he hit one in the water on that hole, he threw it down on the tee and hit the next one in for a three. When he was in his mid 80's Eddie had a Sandhills reunion gathering At BCC on the day after Thanksgiving. I was paired with both of them. The weather didn't get out of the 20's and Mr. C hung in there for all 18, the only complaining he did was that the cold cutting down on his distance.It's hard to stay too sad about a life lived so fully. He certainly lives on in my memories and so many more who's life he touched.

As a friend of Bob and Pat Costigan I met Mr. Costigan only a few times; but I was always aware that I was in the presence of a man of great energy and commitment. My prayers are with the entire Costigan family as they accompany him on his journey back to God and from where his great energy and commitment will be raditate to all of them. Maria Przada

A champ in all aspects of life. Dad loved the expression by Browning: "Ah,

Here's to you, Senior, as my dear Ray referred to you in many a phone call or business at Stifel, Nicolaus. May the two of you have some great Scotch and Golf in Heaven. One can only pray for a life as fulfilled as yours.

Thanks, Pam, from the bottom on my heart for arranging that delightful luncheon in November that will be a last and very lovely memory of a man who really was the best boss I ever had. He was actually much more than that: a mentor, a role model of business ethics yet with a twinkle in his eye, ever ready to laugh....and head for the golf course! He will always be remembered fondly and with gratitude.
