Ellen Moore Obituary

Moore, Ellen Marting Beloved mother of Madeline (Robert) Richmond, Elizabeth (Joseph) Stickley, and Matthew (Jessica) Moore. Precious grandmother of Juliet Highfield and Vivian Elizabeth Stickley, and Charles Matthew Moore. Dearest sister of Joseph (Lindsay), Daniel (Yvette), Matthew (Cheryl), and Andrew (Susan) Marting. Most precious aunt of Sarah (Mike), Ellen (Sundeep), Ashley, Timothy, Chad (Karen), Brett (Katie), Bethany (Travis), Matthew (Shana), Rachel, Caleb, Katherine (Forrest), Peter, Grace, Julia, Mary and Michael. Predeceased by her loving husband George Moore and her beloved parents Nell and Joe Marting. Dearest friend to both Fab Fives and countless others who love her and will dearly miss her. Ellen was a proud member of the Kirkwood High School Class of 1969, and received her B.S. degree from Drake University in 1973. Ellen was an installed Stephen Minister, a Sunday school teacher, and a member of the St. Louis Junior League, volunteering at the women's shelter. Ellen taught elementary school, preschool, children's opera at COCA (Center of Contemporary Arts) and, for the last fifteen years, she taught at Mercy Children's Center. Ellen's avocations include competitive ballroom dancing in Las Vegas and St. Louis, yearly sojourns to the beach in Destin, visiting extended family in Cape Cod, weekend family poolside get-togethers and, most of all, being LaLa E to her precious grandchildren. Ellen will be lovingly remembered as the family matriarch, the rose between the four thorns, and the glue who held all the Martings together. God gave Ellen the gift of hospitality which she used selflessly and lovingly. She was the consummate caregiver and the bearer of wisdom and sage counsel. She had the wonderful capacity of including all and making everyone feel so very special. Ellen was a life-long advocate for those in need, the disenfranchised, and the marginalized. Her life mirrored the words of Jesus who said when you have done it to the least, you have done it to me. Her Christian faith was her strength, her peace, and her eternal hope. The light of God's grace shined brightly through her life. To God be the Glory! In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Jude Children's Hospital P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148 or (800)822-6344, please reference Tribute number 35669218. Services: A celebration of Ellen's life will be held at Faith Des Peres Presbyterian Church, 11155 Clayton Road, St. Louis, MO 63131 at 11:00 am on April 5, 2014. A reception will be held immediately following the worship service in the church's Gathering Place. All are welcome to attend.

Ellen's memory continues to remind us what a wonderful person she was and we came to realise how much positive impact she had over her family, friends and everyone else who's lives she touched. We were priviledged to have known her for a brief, but meaningful period of time. Ellen, you were a gift for so many down here and we're sure you are a gift up there. Clara and Emilian

Dear Andrew and Susan, Madeline , Elizabeth, and Matthew, entire family and friends,
We were privileged to have known Ellen and meet with her and her wonderful children on a few occasions. Although brief, those occasions were true blessings, more than enough to make us feel so much more enriched, as we consistently continue to be with every event, every opportunity, however big or small, that bring us in touch with In Ellen's presence you could feel the powerful and shining flame of her compassion, the energy of her love for life and for her family, so I can only imagine how much she meant for everyone of you. I am sure she will continue to be the beacon of light and hope, through her legacy, through the way she lived her life, through the love she unconditionally and generously spread around her. We will always remembered her.

Thank you for sharing your beloved mother/La La with all of our children. My girls are forever blessed that Ms. Ellen was part of their childhoods. We will remember her in a child's song, beautiful artwork, and the jingle jangle of a perfect stack of gold bangles.

Moore Family:Our most heartfelt and deepest sympathies to you all, as you are all in our thoughts and prayers.Words cannot describe what a wonderful woman your mom was, she was so proud of you all and always had a smile on her face when she talked of you and her grandbabies. We were lucky enough to get to know Ellen when my daughter started at Mercy and it was an instant connection for all of us.Ellen always greeted us with a smile, hugs, and conversation (even when we needed to get to work :)) She encouraged Kiley to try out for the STL Childrens Choir and 5 years later she is still singing strong. Ellen came to concerts, bought girl scout cookies and always loved and supported all of us. Then Blake was lucky enough to have her as a teacher. I know I am rambling but there is so much sadness right now in our home over the loss of Ellen that words again cannot descirbe. No matter how sick she was you would never know it she had the most positive can do attitude of anyone I have ever known and she fought a long hard battle. We will forever be touched and have a special place in our hearts for "Ms Ellen". Heaven gained one heck of an angel to watch over us all.

Ellen you were one of my best friends. Working with you was always a blast! I am so blessed to have met you and to have become a part of your life. You were always there for me and sending prayers to me and my family to help get us through the hard times. You are an amazing lady who had a huge heart. You always enjoyed life and made everything fun. You were the most positive lady that I have ever know. For all of the medical challenges that you had, you were always a fighter and positive. I learned so much from you. I learned that I want to be like you. Your family had the best role model that one could have. I know that their hearts are broken right now, as is so many others...but the wonderful legacy that you left behind will help their heart to heal. "Ms. Ellen" you will be missed more than words can ever express! I love you. Thank you for blessing Karlee and I with being a part of our life.

My children have attended Mercy childcare center where Ellen has been one of their very favorite teachers. She always treated the children with such love, dignity, and respect, even when she was disciplining or correcting them. They also loved it when Ms. Ellen would fix their hair! She will be greatly missed. I am so sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine the void you feel with losing such an amazing person as she was.
