I worked as Frank's secretary back in the mid-90's and had the greatest respect for him. He was so fair and fun-loving; a joy. My heart is truly saddened that he is gone so young. I remember To Frank's family, I remember him and you in my prayers daily. I will never forget his smile and laughter.

Frank was a prince...one of my favorite, if not my very favorite, fellow attorneys. So sorry for your loss. The last time I saw Frank in court I gave him a hug, so glad that I did. Frank will be very much missed - he made the practice and profession a much better place.

Ed and I just received the news from Larry Goldenberg. We were attending a wedding in New Mexico. Our children, Lisa and Stephen, enjoyed growing up with Frank next door. You always smiled in the hallways in high school, you always went with the flow in the dial yearbook room, you always had a funny and sarcastic comment for our alma mater and you always had a way of making everyone laugh.
I'm glad I got to see you at our last big reunion. You still brought a smile to my face.

I've known Frank for several years now. He was was straight-forward, honest open hearted, good guy and I hear an excellent attorney. He was a true friend always with a kind word. He will be missed. Frank I remember sitting on the steps of your house on Princeton Ave while the boys played with Lee and being stunned to learn of your diagnosis 10 years ago (?). None of us could comprehend that the day would eventually come that you would no longer be with us. It still seems unthinkable. I knew Frank for only a short time, four or five years. My memory of those times we talked is of a man filled with love, joy, kindness and willingness to share his spiritual life with others. I will miss him a lot.

We got to know Frank through our daughter's friendship with Lee in elementary school. It was one of her first close friendships after moving to St. Louis and he was one of the first people to make us feel welcome here without even knowing it. He had a great humor, was a gentle soul, and an excellent dad. This community will miss you, Frank.

Frank was my best friend in high school. We helped get each other through our teens with humor, sarcasm, and just hanging out. From the comments below I can see that he blossomed into an amazing husband, father, family man, lawyer, co-worker, and citizen, without losing his teenage mischief and enthusiasm for life. I'm very proud of the person he became. Love to Debbie, Lee, Terri, and all of Frank's family and friends.

Frank was a pleasure to deal with. He was a good lawyer who never took himself too seriously, who lightened the situation with a wisecrack,and who looked for a solution to the problem without seeking credit for the solution.

How truly sad this loss is. My deepest condolences to Debbie and the family. My connection with Frank was primarily professional, only occasionally social. In any setting it was a pleasure to be in his company. I knew him well enough to know that he was one of those "people I wish I knew better," which is reinforced by reading the wonderful, moving comments below from those who were blessed to have had that privilege.

I can't believe I am writing this. I wish I wasn't. I wish Frank would show up at my office and ask if I have a minute...then sit and engage me in the best of conversation, as was the case so many times over the years. And all the great talks about our children! I was so proud to count him as a colleague and a friend. He was as smart, witty, kind, gracious and wonderful as any human gets....and we ALL know that. I will miss you SO much. You made the legal profession and the world a better place. You have left a great mark. My prayers go out to your family. Many thoughts and prayers to you Debbie and family at the unbelievable loss of so great a person as Frank. He inspired my cancer journey when before chemotherapy, telling him "Well, I won't see you for awhile." He replied, "oh yes, you will, you'll get up and meet us every week." I did that! Thank you, Frank! What a gentleman and a gentle man. We will miss your spirit.

I played ice hockey with Frank and a group of lawyers at Shaw Park and later Webster and Kirkwood many years ago and always remember Frank in the manner so perfectly described by so many in this guestbook. Kind, gentle and wise to go along with an infectious smile and great sense for humor. I saw Frank about a year ago at the funeral of yet another great old hockey friend, Art Martin. In an instant, he was the same great friend I knew from years past... The Good Lord seems to be taking the great ones from us...

I met Frank and got to know him in his own home. 90% of my memories with him are there. I can't say I know hardly anyone else because I was invited to their home and treated like family at all times. This just scratches the surface to the person who is Frank Hankin.

In school, Frank was so smooth as a classmate and friend with fantastic people skills well beyond his years.
Friendly, sharp as a tack, a calming and controlled presence, positive, engaging, entertaining, quick-witted, great story teller, and loyal pal. We lost one of the real gems in a class loaded with them. My prayers and condolences to his family and many admirers.

What a smiling, kind and genuine person Frank was. It has been a few years since I visited with Frank but as I told my family-he was always the kind of friend that made it easy to pick up right where you left
off. We started our friendship knocking on doors for MOPIRG, in 1979, then you stopped for a visit in NJ in 1988 and we went to Asbury Park for a visit with The Boss. We both took home a tile from the demolished Asbury Pharmacy. Life is an adventure to live and you did just that. You will be missed dearly- you touched
alot of hearts. My sympathy to Debbie and Lee and the rest of the family.

Frank...oh what a wonderful man. He will be missed by so many. I loved that he officiated at my daughter Jessica's wedding to Andrew in 2000. Just completing the vows it began to rain. Such laughter and perfect timing. And how often he "arranged" things for my leadfoot teenage daughters and father. Thankfully I was able to see Frank recently. And in the the way only Frank could do was to ask about my girls in such a wonderful and personal way while in such difficulties. We learned of his death while sitting Shiva for my Dad...two great guys left us this week. My love and condolences to the entire family.

To Frank's family and friends, Frank was always so kind and helpful, no matter how long it had been since I had seen him or talked to him. I enjoyed working with him at the Prosecutor's office, but more importantly I just enjoyed knowing him. He was a special person, and he will be missed by so many.
