Thomas, Henry A. On Tuesday, November 12, 2013, Henry Archer Thomas of Festus, MO passed peacefully at his home at the age of 99. His beloved wife, the former Merle Eberwein, pre-deceased him in 2007. He is survived by his children, Carol Comlish, Theresa Woodruff, Martha Wallen, Christy Burdette, Laurie Thomas, Brent Thomas, and 20 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. His son, Wayne Thomas, died in 2001 and his daughter, Jean Scanlan, died in 2009. Mr. Thomas was a decorated WWII veteran and awarded the Bronze Star for bravery in action. He also received two Purple Hearts for injuries received in battle. He was a Staff Sergeant in the 70th Infantry Division, 275th Regiment serving in northern France and southwestern Germany. After his war service, he was employed at the Defense Mapping Agency as a cartographic engineer. Services: Funeral at Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd. on Mon., Nov. 18 at 10:30 AM. Interment J.B. National Cemetery. Visitation Sat. 3-7:00 PM
