I have had the luck and great opportunity to collaborate with Jim on mathematical research. He was a great mathematician with clear and incisive mind that could see deep and far. My work with him, involving also regular annual visits between Lock Haven, PA and Lakeville, CT, where each one of us respectively lived, were very productive, really fun and resulted in quite a few joint publications. I will always treasure my memories of Jim and of working with him. Rest In Peace, Dr. Jenkins.

It is with a great sadness that I learned of the passing away of my dear friend and colleague, Dr. Jim Jenkins, professor emeritus from Washington University, an esteemed mathematician and a prolific author from the second half of the 20th century. Jim's incisive research and contributions, mostly in a field of mathematics called Geometric Function Theory, are well-established and have found numerous applications, the Jenkins-Strebel differential being one of them.
Jim was a great friend of mine and my family, a wonderful and generous colleague and mentor. I truly enjoyed and will cherish the memories of my visits to St. Louis and Lock Haven, of Jim's yearly, visits to Lakeville, CT, and of our more than a decade-long collaboration.

Dr. Jenkins, you will be greatly missed.

Condolences to the family and to his good friends, Jane and Kent McNeil.

Jim was our special neighbor in University Hills, Missouri for over twenty years. We have wonderful memories of him from attending his beloved Clayton Methodist Church, to having him to dinner at our house, to Sunday journey to have brunch, to visiting with him about his efforts to grow weed free grass in his yard. His amazing mind was always a delight whether hearing about John Wesly (Jim is the only person I have met who read every sermon that Wesly wrote) to hearing him try to explain his incredibly complex mathimatical research to which he would finally tell me "you would not understand". We were blessed to have know Jim or as were called him most of the time Dr. Jenkins.

Uncle Jim,

Our visits down to the farm were always one of the great highlights of my summers. Unfortunately these visits will ever be the same again.
